BIOGRAPHY
Ricky Day was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on August 17, 1964 and grew up in Los Angeles, California. He is an emerging artist who lives and works in Harlem, New York. Ricky’s art practice includes painting, collage, photography, installation, video and recorded music.
In addition to brisk sales of his works to private collectors, Ricky has exhibited in multiple group shows and studio tours in NYC. He has participated in Night of 1000 Drawings at the Artists Space (2006/2007) in SoHo, the 2006 Harlem Open Artist Studio Tour (H.O.A.S.T.), Reality Gallery at NY Studio Gallery (January 2008) and Art Gotham’s Square Foot Show (June/July 2008). Introducing Ricky Day at Bus Boys and Poets in Washington DC (Jan/February 2008) was his first solo show. White Lies – Black Noise is his first show at Rush Arts. Ricky is currently at work on a photographic portrait series about the African-American LGBT community called This is The Life slated for completion in 2009.
