BIOGRAPHY

Kerryn Madsen-Pietsch was born and educated in Victoria, Australia, gaining a Diploma in Art & Design, 1977, Deakin University, Geelong and a Graduate Diploma in (Sec) Education, 1982, Bendigo CAE. In between these qualifications, Kerryn travelled and worked interstate - SA, NSW, then far North Queensland gaining 'life experiences'. In 1985 Kerryn accepted a teaching position in Innisfail, North Qld and this is where she still lives and works, having settled and raised her family of three children with North Qld. born Indigenous husband and also artist, Clifford Madsen.

Parallel to a long art teaching career in this isolated tropical region, is Kerryn's continual commitment to developing her professional artist practice, with many regional awards and exhibition achievements, as well as serving voluntarily in her community in many art roles/positions - as an administrator, steward, judge, organizer and coordinator to many workshops and local exhibitions and more recent as a curator and regional representative. Kerryn now self-employed, is the founder, co-owner and director of 'Artropica Innisfail Studio Gallery', a retail art and framing business, which has been successfully run and operated since 1997.

Kerryn's recent achievements includes her successful selected solo exhibiton, 'Elevating the Spirit', shown 2007 at the Cairns Regional Gallery, then its touring program to date: 2007 - Sugarama Gallery in her hometown; 2009 - April 24 - May 31, Umbrella Studio Gallery (selected to show in Main Space) Townsville, Qld. Australia.
