BIOGRAPHY
In an attempt to make the common aesthetically beautiful, I often use non-traditional media and industrial materials to create narrative compositions. These stories are usually calm but with a feeling that conflict has just happened or has the potential to happen soon. Most of my works contain the human form with stylized, illustrate or graphic overtones. These two pieces address the strength of humans; in both of these works the figure is female. I am fascinated with the idea of the duality of something being beautiful and dangerous. I also explore the idea of the ability of a common person to contain immense strength, which can be called upon when needed.
Although I consider my self to be a painter at heart, I often include alternative materials such as beads, industrial materials and natural objects into my work. I try to find the beauty in the everyday world. In my work I try to illustrate narratives about that world from which the materials originate. These stories are usually calm but with a feeling that conflict has just happened or has the potential to happen. Most of my works contain the human form with stylized, illustrate or graphic overtones. Some of the works appear violent or could be read as a warning to the viewer. I have tried to illustrate the idea of the duality of something being beautiful and dangerous.
