BIOGRAPHY
Self taught, starting with watercolors in 1991. In 1998 I started painting on canvas with oils and in 2000 with acrylics. I also work on paper with pastels, charcoal, oil pastels or silk screen. I sometimes use digital photographs in mixed media work. Bright color and line predominate in my work, which reflects on personal experience, social issues, stereotypes and bias, faith and religion, family and aging. I am a trial lawyer as well as an artist and some of my paintings reflect on social justice issues and the court process. Included in my work are several large “jury” paintings, judge portraits, and a series reflecting on capital punishment. I work in a variety of styles including figurative, abstract, narrative, landscape and portrait. Most works on canvas are large (up to 4 feet x 8 feet) with many works on two panels.
