BIOGRAPHY
I received my 1st camera when I was 12 or so - a little Kodak, then when traveling overseas in college, an Olympus Stylus Point and Shoot, then a Minolta SLR, and just before digital hit, a Nikon SLR (a gift). For the last several years I've gone digital.
But as they say it's not the gear that makes the image, it's the photographer's eye and his or her willingness to get out and make images - to be there - wherever/whenever that image needs to be created. It's so easy to get lazy or caught up in the rest of life.
In my non-photography life, I am a Public Relations consultant. I put my 17 plus years in the business to work helping individuals, non-profits, and small businesses get their message out, with a creative twist, to the right audiences, in the right publications at the right time. I also help people get online, set up blogs and use social media tools. I began as a writer, so I also help artists with artist statements, website copy, press releases for shows and the like as well. A photographer friend said - "You like to take images that almost haven't happened yet - the butterfly as it begins to move, or the reflection of moving water." I liked that description.
I do little to no digital manipulation of my images with Photoshop etc. I occasionally adjust the levels, and I crop some images. I do, however, often rotate my reflection and shadow images. See details below.
