BIOGRAPHY
°Mortsel, Belgium 1977.
Despite, or maybe thanks to his studies of bio-engineer, he started painting on the age of 23.
He prefers not to think too deeply out loud about his work because he doesn't want to influence the audience. But it is a fact that Steve knows why he paints and how he whishes to achieve a desired result.
He prefers oil paint and mixing colours. He cherises the texture and the relief that spontaneously step forward when the paint dries. In short, he glorifies the way in which matter and colour seem to recreate themselves and develop their own game on the canvas.
Steve is creator and spectator at the same time, of the fascinating symbiosis of the matter and pigments that he applied on the carrier material, and of the inexpected surprise of what is underneath, what we can see with our own eyes.
