BIOGRAPHY
Elana Goodfellow was born in Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada. As the daughter of a Canadian Air Force serviceman, she had the opportunity to live in several parts of Canada. This shaped her view of Canada from childhood by giving her an appreciation for the vastness of the nation and a thirst for seeing more of it.
Throughout her youth, Elana was encouraged by both her mother, who is an artist and her father to develop her artistic skills. She continued to study fine art until high school when she took a long break from the visual arts to pursue other career goals. In 2001, she once again picked up her brush and began studying under the tutelage of Izabella Orzelski-Konikowski, one of Alberta’s leading portrait painters. She has since continued her studies of the academic tradition of painting at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto.
Elana's work captures a moment of intimacy between her subjects and the viewer. Her main subjects are human and animal portraiture, although she does break from this from time to time to create floral works. Her work is characterized by a larger than life look at her subjects and by the use of a rainbow of colours.
Her work can be found in collections around the world.
