BIOGRAPHY

i was born on the isle of lewis,Scotland on 5th April 1976,my parents divorced when i was about 8 years old due to his alcoholism,i can remember feeling slightly different to other children as they were always asking where "my dad was" and "if i had one". i was a very hyper-active young boy and i would spend my summer holidays at relatives in a very small village probably so my mum got a break from my energy.....it was here i started to draw.
i would copy drawings from old encyclopedias and atlas that lived in an empty old house at the end of the road,i would sit for hours drawing these images, taking them to my aunt who would always want better drawings.i slowly did get better and began drawing my family, getting them to sit for me as i sketched and sketched.
i took art all through school and learned and matured and traded my pencil for a rifle when i joined the army at 17,i was frustrated and felt that it was the right thing to do,the right place to go,to get away from the entrapment that i then felt on the island,it was an experience that will never be forgotten........
i graduated from grays school of art in 1999 and went to an international school in Denmark where i taught art and English for several months before moving to Glasgow.i struggled in Glasgow for a couple of years painting all day and working nights getting my paintings together and really experimenting and well...........just painting, you know...........and here i am now, painting full time and trying to capture life i guess

I'm a big admirer of photo-realistic painting and yours are some of the best I've seen. The tactility accomplished with the cloth and flesh seems more real than real. .
