BIOGRAPHY
Robert is a Saginaw-based artist and has been studying art ever since it was available as a class since around the age of twelve. He is currently studying art at Saginaw Valley State University with a focus in printmaking, though also works a lot in painting, as well as ceramics, sculpture and various other mediums.
Robert has been studying printmaking for almost two years and has been greatly inspired almost exclusively by three printmakers: Albrecht Durer, Rembrandt and John James Audobon. Robert considers these artists as three of the greatest that there have been in printmaking and the beginning of his works can show inspiration from these artists. From the start of his studies Robert has been interested in working with animals, nature and natural history though his more recent work has been changing to pop art themes and ideas, as well as continuing to work in ideas revolving around the Renaissance or ancient mythological times and themes.
Robert has been showing his work in galleries and shows since two thousand and seven and has since had over thirty art shows, nine of them being solo shows, several publications as well as six awards, including best artwork and people's choice awards. He also donates his artwork to aid local museums, for aids/hiv research and to help fight dyslexia. Robert's work is shown primarily throughout Michigan but has also appeared in Chicago, New York, Seattle, Florida, Denmark, England, China and Australia. He also has work in private and personal collections throughout Michigan as well as in Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New Jersey and London, England.
Though inspired by many artists Robert is most inspired by the three printmakers mentioned above: Albrecht Durer, Rembrandt and John James Audobon, as well as contemporary artists Picasso and Andy Warhol.
