BIOGRAPHY
Christine Serchia is a multi-media artist and photographer born in Buffalo, NY. With frequency, she references memory and the way that time alters and translates reality; visually conveying moments introduced to reality through the diction of materiality and context.
After receiving her Bachelor's of Fine Art and Art History minor with Honors as a Presidential Scholar from the School of Art & Design at Alfred University in Alfred, New York, Christine was awarded grant-funding, which enabled her to live and work in Florence, Italy with Santa Reparata International School of Art. Her time in Tuscany, in a new landscape and culture, evoked her photographic and assemblage series entitled 'Da Portar Via' tangible moments spliced from her travels.
Her images have been published in Poesis Magazine following her first curated exhibition, appropriately entitled, 'Everything Nice'. She has since been the Assistant Curator and Director for the artist non-profit ReconnectUS.org in Providence, RI and later as Artistic Director and Curator for The Burchfield Nature and Art Center in West Seneca, NY. She has instructed photography and artist portfolio development workshops at AS220, been twice commissioned by award-winning Providence Art Windows Project and was honored as a guest lecturer for the PPL Visual Literacy Artist Series in Providence, RI.
Christine's work has been featured in the Melbourne Digital Fringe Film Festival, Melbourne Australia, "Fuor d' Acqua' and 'Da Portar Via' exhibitions at Studio 61 in Florence, Italy; Robert Miller Gallery, Light Work Syracuse, New York; at The Fosdick-Nelson Gallery at Artsite Wellsville, NY; The Light Show at the Museum of Luminous Phenomena in Alfred, NY; Johnson & Wales University Providence, RI, and Weather Photos at The Shanghai Zendai MoMa, Shanghai.
