BIOGRAPHY
I grew up in the small Indiana town of Covington which just borders Illinois. I think from the first moment I saw a horse I had an instant passion for them and for years I would drive my parents crazy asking for one. I wanted one so bad that I would draw pictures of them and hang them around my room. My room was filled with horse books, pictures and model horses.
When I was 14 my dad finally realized I was not going to grow out of it and finally got me my own horse, and I've had them ever since. After years of drawing all those horses I discovered I had true artistic abilities. I found something I liked to do and was good at, so art is the path I chose.
After high school I attended the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis and majored in Painting and minored in Drawing. In 1988 I graduated with a BA in Fine Art. After school I had several different types of jobs, learning design-type programs on computer on my own and eventually becoming the graphic designer that I am today.
My husband John and I have been married since 1989, and we recently bought a 20-acre farm in Georgetown, IL that is keeping us really busy. We both enjoy our four Appaloosa horses as well as other farm animals. John likes to team rope, and I enjoy showing western pleasure and barrel racing. I enjoy collecting Breyer horses and painted ponies, music and antiques. I work as a full-time graphic designer for the University of Illinois Assembly Hall where I design ads, programs, posters, signs and brochures to help promote entertainment events including concerts and family shows at the building.
The last few years the only painting and drawings I've done have been commissions. Running the farm and working full-time has made it hard to do a lot of art but I'm hoping I can do more soon.
