BIOGRAPHY
Grady Haugerud is a self-taught artist, practicing spontaneous drawing, painting and mark making. His focused interest explores ideas of chaos and harmony coexisting in nature. Haugerud's work is meant to trigger the viewer's own unconscious thoughts, enabling them to visualize primordial plant life, animals and landscapes.
Haugerud received the Forward Arts Foundations 2005 Emerging Artist of the Year Award, resulting in a solo show at the Swan Coach House Gallery entitled "When I Close my Eyes". He has been in numerous shows, including "Forward Arts" an exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA), AAF Contemporary Art Fair in New York City and Transatlantic, in Gallery Twenty-Four in Berlin, Germany.
Grady's work was selected for the 2006 National Juried Competition "Works of Art on Paper", juror: Carter E. Foster, Curator of Drawings, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York NY. And the 2006 National Juried Exhibit at Eyedrum gallery (Atlanta, GA), Juror: George Kinghorn, Director of the Museum of Modern Art Jacksonville, FL.
Most recently Grady's Multiples Project proposal was selected by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) and will be presented at the Museum this year.
