BIOGRAPHY
Samios specializes in fanciful, sometimes sardonic pictures of birds, plants and men (often androgynous), painted in a graceful style that's representational but not realistic. He's painted mysterious fields of floating mushrooms, masked figures in playfully erotic poses and a series of works on paper depicting American songbirds perched in the bull's-eye of National Rifle Association targets, which he finds at flea markets. Playing with scale and the age-old notion of man versus nature, Samios stenciled four little jets flying through the pictorial space, small enough for the bird to eat. Actor Orlando Bloom bought three of these "Sing for It" pictures. See Samios' work at www.billsamios.com.
