BIOGRAPHY

I am currently employed full time and applying whatever spare time I can muster to my artwork. As a "self taught" artist, once every couple of years I would pick up a pencil and paper to sketch anything that took my fancy. Mostly portraits and pets. In more recent years, colour was introduced into my sketches using pastel pencils. After various courses with established pastel artists, I was further encouraged to use pastels to "paint" rather than sketch in colour.
Since April 2005 I have been focused on varying and improving my artwork from people and pet portrait sketches, to portrait paintings and landscapes in soft pastel, oils and acrylics.

I love your way of using the colors! Especially the sky in sunset/"morning light"!! The pastells are magnificent! My favourite is the one with the lake and the mountains behind.. The mountains and the clouds... That's some good work. It reminds me of Monet's colours.. I wish I had the patience to work more with pastells and oils. Well, Bye again :) .

I don't really know how to explain how i managed the horse portrait... It's my own horse Biggles to begin with.. Often i start with the dark spots, much black/dark brown and then make it lighter and lighter. Airbrush is nice, 'cause you can put on many layers without screwing it up :) you can put some light on, put some dark on etc.. I've been painting horses since I saw a horse for the first time, so it's not a new motiv for me :) I will photograph more while I'm painting, so that people can see how I do it. I'm no good in explaining in words, it's easier to show :) Have a nice day! Best regards .
