BIOGRAPHY
Contemporary Scottish colourist - expressionist working full-time from studio and fine-art gallery in Weston-super-Mare on the Somerset coast in the West Country of England.
Born Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Formative education and training in Aberdeen. Continued studies in London and Brighton, concentrating on life study, sculpture, architectural aesthetics, art history, museum studies. Specialist art historical studies centred on, but not exclusive to, the major art institutions in Amsterdam, Ghent, Paris and Edinburgh

Cartney has been painting full time since early 2006. Her work, inspired by architecure and sculptural objects, has developed into five distinct series of original oils and related prints: Beach Road, Boulevard, Glasgow, Pheasant, Wadham Beach.
