BIOGRAPHY
My sculpture is a reflection of me. My thoughts, emotions and experiences are all visible in my work.
I work predominantly in wood. I have found that the grain, color and texture of wood seem to infuse life into my pieces. I use wood symbolically. As a child, I often found solace in the woods behind our house. I have always found God in nature and my work reflects that. For example, I use vines to symbolize love, growth or the passage of time.
Sometime the figures are realistically rendered and other times, they are abstracted to the point that they appear more as curvilinear shapes.
My work deals with the human condition from the female point of view. It has a sense of emergence, of a coming into one̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s own. It is about discovery. As I work more, I discover more about myself and hope that as the viewer looks at my work, they discover something as well.
