BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1983, Emeric Lhuisset has always lived in suburban Paris.
At a young age, Emeric became interested in applied arts and specifically product design. After having worked concurrently as a graphic designer, actor, and model, he worked as a fashion accessory designer (Saint Laurent, Nina Ricci, Etam, Escada…).
Following a many-month land voyage from Paris (France), to Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and back, he decided to abandon the field of product design to dedicate himself to photography and drawing.
He immediately entered The National Superior School of Fine Arts of Paris (Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris -Ensba-).
Having received his first-cycle Ensba diploma in 2007 with the support of Jacky Chriqui and Christian Boltanski, he is now finishing his program of study in the workshops of Jean-Marc Bustamante and Guillaume Paris.
In tandem with his studies, he was drawn to work as the French representative for the human rights organization Witness at the FIAC (Foire internationale de l’Art Contemporain), as a professor of fine art for the Brighton Academy (Los Angeles, USA), and as a collaborator for many radio shows for France Culture.
Emeric is currently lecturer in photography at The Institute of Political Studies of Paris (l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris -Sciences Po Paris-) and a professor of fine art for the Virginia Governor’s Academies (Virginia Commonwealth University, USA).
He continues to travel all over the world, a silent witness to places where many would no longer dare to go (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Colombia…). His work presents not the immediately apparent, but rather the milestones of reflection and a questioning of our society.
