BIOGRAPHY
Marko Shuhan was born in 1962 in Brooklyn, NY. His parents—both involved in the
theatrical and musical arts—exposed Marko, from his earliest years, to the endlessly vast artistic culture New York City had to offer. Those early formative years, curiosity, and exposure to different music genres, literature, history and philosophy, as well as travel experiences, eventually led to the development of his own creative outlet—painting.
Working primarily in oil-based paints, Shuhan’s gestural abstract paintings have been
shown in solo and group exhibitions in the New York metropolitan area and in the Hudson Valley at such venues as Goliath Visual Space in Brooklyn, Coffey Gallery
in Kingston, NY, Zorya Fine Art in Greenwich, CT and the Woodstock Artists Association
in Woodstock, NY. He has also participated in exhibitions in Chicago, Philadelphia,
and Santa Fe. As well, he has served on juried exhibition panels. His paintings are represented in numerous private collections throughout the United States.
Marko Shuhan earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York (1984), and completed additional technical training in a comprehensive encaustics workshop at R&F Paints in Kingston, NY (2000). He works as an artist in Accord, NY, where he lives with his wife and two sons.
