I've just spent a moment looking through Derek's gallerys and am struck again by my thorough enjoyment of his work. I am particularly interested in the way in which imagery is revealed and circumscribed by figuration. Scenes of all manner of activity, viewpoint, and perspective roil beneath the surface of a kind of window created by the outlines of figures who in the act of some obscure gesture that has nothing to do with or are in contradiction to that which so occupies them as the main compositional drivers, so to speak. I remain, quite fascinated. .

Salutations, some great line quality in your ink drawing. you really have good command of the media and I like the use of the space in most of your compositions. I like the trees drawing and the way you have created the shadows coming towards the fore ground, that aspect of the drawing gives the image great feeling of depth and distance. great use of the negative space in that drawing as well, has a very nice balance in the use of both the negative and positve space. nicely drawn image. you done very many art shows or exhibitions in So. Cal? .
