BIOGRAPHY
BiJian sculpts a 3D object out of a 2D material, which makes his sculptures occupying more space with less material. He explores the aesthetics, vulnerability, adaptability, and other characteristics of various media. He combines cutting, folding, curling, weaving, and other alternative sculptural techniques into his artistic expression to develop his own sculptural style.
A native of Beijing, BiJian studied in China, Japan, and USA. He earned his BS and MS in Mathematics and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. By day, he is a biotech engineer, but by night, he designs and creates sculptues at his home in Camarillo, California. He has exhibited his sculptures internationally and earned numerous awards in juried art exhibitions and competitions.
