BIOGRAPHY
Fernando Mastrangelo was born in 1978 and raised in the United States, Mexico, and Argentina. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University, receiving his MFA in sculpture in 2004, then moved to New York, where he lives and works today. From his earliest work, Mastrangelo has explored narrative sculpture and relationships to contemporary politics, ancient history, philosophy, and environment.
For his first solo exhibition, Mastrangelo explored the philosophy of malicia in relation to Afro-Brazilian Capoeria, late 19th century German philosophy, and concurrent political issues. Mastrangelo is currently working towards his second solo show that will explore warriors, deities, and contemporary artist in a sequence of sculptures, and performances.
