BIOGRAPHY
I'm a Vietnamese-American visual artist living and working in San Francisco. My recent bodies of work have been revolving around issues regarding the environment.
In my De/Construction Series, after witnessing first-hand the economic growth of China contrasted by its simultaneous environmental decay, I assimilated the process of growth/decay, construction/destruction into my paintings. I collage and tear off papers. I paint with metallic paints and rust them. I draw with graphite and erase it. I am interested in the process rather than the image.
In my re:action series, images of trees, manipulated by technology, are superimposed onto sheets of Wall Street Journal newspapers. The sheets are wrapped in packaging tape. Exposed to sunlight, these works begin to degrade. This series serves as a metaphor for our relationship with nature through issues of economics, technology, and commerce.
I am here to network with other artists, especially (but not exclusively) from different regions and/or countries, to exchange gallery/museum/art scene information.
