BIOGRAPHY

After graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology with a MFA degree in ceramics, Peggy Klineman rented studio space at Fedder Industrial Park and taught ceramics to children and adults at Allofus Art Workshop, a community art school in Rochester, New York. From 1975 to 1978 she had numerous artist in residencies and grants in the Rochester, New York area to expose children and senior citizens to the ceramics arts. Also during that period, she exhibited her ceramic work in numerous regional exhibits.

In 1979, she moved to New York City to pursue business opportunites. After almost 25 years in business, the need for self-expression and especially to paint became overwhelming. And, Klineman started taking classes first at Cooper Union and then at the Art Student League in New York City. For over six years, while still working full-time as a graphic designer, she honed her skills and learned the craft of oil painting. In September of 2006, she rented studio space in order to express her artistic voice and paint full-time.

Hey Peggy these are really great. I like the fact you have a set pallete and the mark making is bold and not cluttered. Your layout of composition is also very satisfying. Keep me posted on your progress and show these!!!! .

Hi Peggy, it's my pleasure and thanks for your comments. I am drawn to your mark-making and am particularly impressed by the sense of light and airiness you achieve - especially in the Entrance to Central Park images. On this small scale they remind me of De Koonings late works. All the best, Chris .
