BIOGRAPHY
Ketya, is a self-taught artist who was born in Alexandria Virginia who shows enormous innate talent. Although she has lived in the Caribbean most of her life since she was 13 years old. She paints in oil and acrylics on board, and canvas and sometimes on wood, uses brushes, her fingertips, or anything available. Ketya paints into the night, using generous amounts of acrylic paint to portray scenes of her rural surroundings, every day life , beach scenes, and including underwater scenes. She takes her inspiration from religion, black history, and remembrances from childhood and nature. In addition to being a painter, she is a photographer and sculptor. She has a style all her own and portrays themes of faces, people, and eyes. Her bold vibrant work reflects the enthusiasm and love she has for the beauty, the colors, and the people of the Virgin Islands in showing the day-to-day goings on of Caribbean life is apparent.
