| On Saturday evening, August 9, a fund raiser in the name of saving and rescuing horses, with donations to go to the Amaryllis Horse Rescue Farm in Sagoponack, NY, will be chaired by Madonna and hosted by Gweneth Paltrow and Steven Klein at his Bridgehampton farm. The abstract questrian artist Donna Bernstein has been asked to donate a piece in the name of Olivia Baccash, a young rider who has left us too soon, and whose mother Linda has been a press writer with the Southampton Press for many years. When asked, Donna was happy to contribute, as she is a constant benefactor through her art, having contributed to Amarayllis in the past, as well as many other organizations throughout the country on a regular basis. Some of her other contributions have been to US Pony Clubs, McPaws, a foundation for homeless animals, the Redwings Sanctuary for Horses, Food Bank of Idaho, Boise Art Museum programs, and many others that support the efforts of children in need as well as horse and animal welfare.
A particularly gracious contribution was that of a sculpture, "Buck", which Donna created in response to the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah. The piece represents the very first horse used in their therapeutic riding program, which has now become world-renowned. The NAC is a major supporter of children with disabilities to teach and inspire children to reach for the stars. Donna has been asked again for this year's major fundraiser for her support. The piece chosen for the Amaryllis "Mane Event" is an original 4 x 4 foot painting, titled "Tangerine", and can be found on the websitegalleries. |
