BIOGRAPHY:
I often find my own artworks strange and ugly. This doesn't stop me from creating new works, because those represent my very own ideas, and it would not be as personal if I started to judge them or censure them. Although they might be ugly, I always find them interesting.

Josh Starcher
myartspace id:Joshmee
BIOGRAPHY:
Born in the mud and the snow between the factories and rolling hills of Ohio, Josh made his way to the concrete jungle in 2002. The rich character of NYC’s urban landscape led him to create a series of cityscapes with a focus on the unique personality of the city herself. His figurative and still life works are inspired by the raw beauty and delicate nuances of his subject matter.

Sarah Small
myartspace id:sarahsmall
BIOGRAPHY:
I was born in 1979 into a family of musicians and writers. I fell in love with photography when I was 13 and, luckily, I had a photogenic, cooperative, impossibly freckled little sister, Rachel, on whom to endlessly practice my craft. My constant curiosity, indiscriminate urge to engage everyone, and fascination with entangling myself in human drama guided me through boundless adventures as a teenager wandering the streets and houses of my hometown, Washington, D.C., equipped with a Pentax K1000. I was formally educated at the Rhode Island School of Design. Since my graduation in 2001, I‘ve engaged in an ongoing pursuit to find and photograph enchanting characters, animals, and color within all my projects- personal, fashion, editorial, and commercial. I have taught darkroom and digital photography to both high school students and adults. And, since 1997, which is now creeping up on 11 years, I have taken a Polaroid of myself everyday. I plan on pursuing this project for life. My work has appeared in publications such as Life Magazine, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times. It has been exhibited at Exit Art, The Corcoran Gallery, and The Australian Center for Photography. I have also been the recipient of several awards, among them: Surface Magazine’s Avant Guardian (1 of 8 chosen out of 10 years), Art and Commerce’s Emerging Photographer, and American Photography 24. I was recently selected and will have my portfolio published by American Photo Magazine as one of this year’s top 13 Emerging Photographers. With my spare time, I arrange Bulgarian music that I sing and perform with Black Sea Hotel, my Brooklyn-based A Cappella quartet.

Arthur Natale
myartspace id:arturo610
BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Brooklyn, NY, I lived a repressed life in Queens and Long Island until I escaped to New York City. There I developed my art and matured somewhat. Better to remain a young spirit. I thrived in the East Village like a hothouse orchid and went on to carve out a career as an artist. Or at least to start one. Oh well. I exhibited my work in lots of group shows and ran an arts organization and gallery for many years.

BIOGRAPHY:
"Looking at organic form and shape, Susan explores these areas using new technology in the new digital age. These peices have a life of their own and also have a story to tell in the form of a narrative. They have both alien and terrestrial elements which are intrinsically part of the image as a whole. These abstract and beautiful images seem strangely familiar, with parts of these images depicting the simple things in life. This is what attracts Susan to them, something which can not be nailed down and is ever changing, evolving and challenging her artistic nature............

Sam Mitchell
myartspace id:samemitch
BIOGRAPHY:
Suzanne “Sam” Kasparek Mitchell was born and raised in Lake Oswego, Oregon. She attended Loyola University of New Orleans, where she received a BA in Communications in 1991. She also attended Converse College where she received her certification in Art Education in 1994. In 2000-02, she apprenticed in Painting Restoration at the New Orleans Conservation Guild. “People often try to classify what type of artist you are. I do not fit that mold… I began with a major in advertising and graphic design with a minor in ceramics. I have explored many forms of 2-d and 3-d design, and have always incorporated drawing and painting throughout. I guess that is why teaching became so attractive to me… I get to do everything. Currently I am learning the in’s and out’s of digital photography and loving it.” “As a fine art educator I get the best of both worlds… by sharing my love of art with students I selfishly get to create art all day long.” As well as being a professional artist, and after teaching art in Spartanburg County for 6 years, Sam joined the Spartanburg Day School faculty in 2007 as the Lower School Art Instructor. She is an active member in the Spartanburg Artists Guild from which she received the Guild’s honor of Best in Show for her piece entitled The Fairgrounds in the 2006 Annual Juried Exhibition. She will represent the Guild in a two-person exhibit titled The Unstill Life in May of 2008 at the Chapman Cultural Center.
