 |
| BIOGRAPHY: |
| Emerging artist, Manuela Paz, is a graduate from the School of Visual Arts photography program in New York. Her photographs of female protagonists gesturing within the frame of a mirror reveal a contemporary psychological exploration while subtly invoking conventions of Renaissance portraiture. The work evokes a melancholy state of suspension with subtle accents and hesitations that suggest ambiguous narratives.
Manuela Paz has been exhibiting her work locally in and around the New York area in group shows since 2002 and had her first solo show August of 2006 at Invisible, a new contemporary art space on Orchard Street. Her work can be found on several online slide libraries including those of White Columns, Artists Space, and Re-title. |

| In 1950 I was born in Kibbutz Kfar Hamaccabi, Israel, where I lived until 1988. As a kibbutz-member I was not able to take a complete study at an art-college. Therefore I followed evening-lessons drawing for many years. In 1984 I finally got the permission to study creative art at the university. My study at the university of Haifa was combined with Comparative Literature and took three years. I have learned there a lot about various forms of Creative Art. As follows, I decided to dedicate my interest on photography. My final project was children photography.
Since 1988 I live in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, and work as a freelance-photographer and painter. In my commercial work I fulfil requests from particulars and companies as commissioned work. Wishing to combine my photography with drawing and painting, I began to mix them in my artistic work. It began in 1992 with photo collages and took another form in 1996 with body-paintings. |

| BIOGRAPHY: |
| My abstract is a very internal and personal experience.
I am a person who enjoys the simplest things in nature - the sun on my face, a kid̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s smile and those minutes in the evening when everything glows in a pale purple just before the sunset.
What inspires me to create my abstract paintings is the beauty I see in simple things in nature ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã
â colosr, textures, patterns and forms. My abstract art does not look for representing something or somewhere instead it looks for making obvious the grandeur of simplicity.
my style has evolved from nature, using acrylic paints,to depict natures, to a more abstract style, incorporating surreal imagery, fragmented non-geometric forms, and a vivid array of colors. Furthermore, by using mixed media, I have been able to enhance the visual and textural aspects of my paintings more effectively. |

| BIOGRAPHY
Son of art, Roberto Fantini was born in Rome in 1960. He graduated at the "I Liceo Artistico" in Via Ripetta and his attraction towards all forms of art was so strong that he started exhibiting his artworks when he was only 14 years old.
The artistic career of Roberto Fantini is rich of many experiences, the most different ones: he dances at professional level, he works as a fashion model, he acts and he also explores photography as a professional.
As a painter, he professionally matures also through his frequent travels to Asia, especially Tibet (where the takes his inspiration from the study and the re-discovery of the origins of mankind as well as from the research of the significance of spirituality) and to various other countries, until he decides to live outside Italy for 14 years.
The deep understanding of colors, atmospheres and places of the mankind’s origins and profound knowledge of the materials he uses, characterize his work on the visual testimony of the first inhabitants of the planet – the cave paintings.
Back to Italy, today the artist lives and works in Rome. His artistic qualities which have matured with experience and time have been greatly appreciated both in Italy and abroad.

| BIOGRAPHY: |
| Ronnie Shahmoon has a varety of different facets. For many years he was involved in music designing systems to manipulate audio signals. He has composed music for video games consoles and written commercially available music synthesizer software.
He has spent much of the last two years studing the interrelationship between karma, religion, pschology and the ego and is currently writing a book which unifies these concepts.
His recent video work has focused on resonance and its effect often experimenting with the unrelenting monotony of repetition. He believes that the everyday mantras of life are often overlooked in place of the spectacular and yet they have a profound effect on us. It is these undercurrents that he attempts to distill through his art so that they can be more vividly experienced. |

| I am self taught artist currently living and working in London. My work is highly a reflection of the influences of my West African background. Born into a Nigerian family, brightly patterned folk and traditional art was an everyday visionary experience for me, along with the music, dances and superstitions that have shaped my culture. Along with Africa, past experiences throughout my travels in Central America and the Caribbean with special reference to Cuba have also found comfort and shelter in my work .

| All of my images are made using a combination of sketches, scans, computer software, and are made solely by me. My style is designed to be a soft animation look.
I create my artwork by first developing and sketching an idea for the image. I then scan the image into the computer and use software programs to further refine the idea and the artwork.
I have been making this style of artwork since 2000, though many of my earlier images were humorous or comic-book style images. By 2003, I had developed a main subject for my artwork: the character called "Tabby". By 2007, I had refined the character into three versions: the first one has long hair, the second version has short hair and glasses, and the third version is a combination of the first two, with both long hair and glasses.
When creating my artwork, I usually start with a rough idea of how I want the piece to look. I sketch Tabby a rough pose and start thinking about ideas for clothing. Of course, if the piece will be a portrait-style shot, then clothing usually isn't needed.
When I've finished sketching out the piece, I then scan it into the computer. I then fill in the details and the colors. I sometimes adjust the piece by changing the "camera angle" by "zooming in" or "zooming out". Sometimes this kind of adjustment helps me create a piece better than I had originally planned!
Most of my artwork is available for sale, ranging in size from very large (24"x36") to small (8.5"x11"), to a few sizes in-between. |

After I graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, I made sculpture and installation art for many years and then stopped for a while. In 2001, I began to study painting at the Art Students' League which I thought would be a good contrast to SVA in that it was all about skill whereas SVA was mainly about ideas. I studied there for two years and have been painting ever since. My resume on this site reflects only my painting exhibits.

| I became a ceramic artist when I was about 28 ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã
â 29. This was a mechanism for my own psychic health, as I was living in almost third world conditions in the forest ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã
â away from electricity and telephones in a barely habitable shell of a house that we were building then. From these humble beginnings ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã
â I found what I wanted to do in life. I learned all I could about ceramic techniques from local technical colleges, other potters, workshops and my own experimentation. It was a slow realization of what was possible, working out how to make anything I could imagine.
My twenty seven years of working in this medium have taken me through many phases of styles and techniques, mold manufacturing and design work, supplying many galleries, participating in numerous exhibitions, completing a Diploma of Art through the Australian National University and an international residency in France.
Commitment to my craft is constant and ongoing, the passion still fierce. My work is renewing itself through investigations into my own undisciplined imagination and I still trust my subconscious mind.

I completed my BFA degree, majoring in Visual Arts, at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan in 1999, and my MFA degree, majoring in Visual Arts, at York University in Toronto in 2001. Since my graduation I have maintained an art practice, have been working as a freelance writer and custom screen printer, and have also been teaching a number of screen printing and related courses.
The main focus of my work is printmaking, specifically screen printing. I work out of Toronto̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s Open Studio, where I am a screen printing course instructor, a board member, and also work on assorted custom printing projects.
I have recently had a small selection of my work, along with a short article written about my work, included in a book called Printmaking At The Edge, published by A & C Black in London, England. This book has resulted in the creation of a small portfolio of the involved artists̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ work which is currently travelling around the world, and will be the theme of an upcoming printmaking conference in Falun, Sweden. I presented on a related panel discussion in March,of 2007 at the Southern Graphics Council printmaking conference in Kansas City, MO.
Besides my work as a visual artist, I am also a writer. I have had art-related articles published in Xtra!, Shameless Magazine, and Dose magazine in Toronto. I have also had various articles printed in a number of smaller, independent publications. From 1998-2004 I had a regular personal/editorial column in a bi-monthly zine called HeartattaCk, published in Goleta, CA.

| These works are done in configuration with my linear style of figurative painting.
The formation of this method of pictorial depiction is an evolution from my belief that in order to truthfully describe any content, a painting must exist in a state of flux, as all events, objects, scenes, people, thoughts and ideas are constantly changing. To describe and depict something that was, is or will be carries the heavy and imposing predicament of time. And so in describing the world, I have found it necessary to create images that exist halfway between completion and dissolution.
Another main and motivating factor in creating and developing the use of lines in my paintings was the unveiling of a desire for manifestation of unity. Following an urge against segmentation of the painting surface into isolated geographies of color and content, I set out to create a method of pictorial depiction which conveys this idea of unity regardless of content. The segmentation of both color and content is at once rejected by a shared geography. A playful attempt at monism, these works are an exploration of figurative painting with lines.
Inspired in part by Persian calligraphy, these works echo the influence of my cultural heritage. In creating and developing this linear style of painting some of my continual inspirations have been weaving patterns of carpets, tile works and different kinds of puzzles. In these tapestries of color, lies the Persian-ness of my work; depicted in the manner each work is created, beyond the immediacy and particularity of content. Even though the sources of most of my subjects are external, my work is often an attempt for the union of the internal.

| Markus Oeffinger - work description
̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¾We are living in a world of pictures, where the artist responds with visual illusions to this world, which is more and more fraught with the constant flickering of TV, video and internet pictures. A tide of optical impulses constantly penetrates us. Today everything may be object as well as subject of a picture. There exists no division between the trivial and small or the grand and big world. Our time is a time of acceleration, which means as well a time of acceleration by producing ruins. Thereby it treats necessarily with the examination of the past and the fragments of the archaeology, but the principal topic of my work is represented by the knowledge about the fact that our today̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s reality may be a ruin tomorrow, or furthermore within the production process becomes a ruin, thus the fragmentary of our presence.
Ruins are visualized time. They refer to and tell history. Hartmut BÃÆÃâÃâöhme refers to time itself or past as a ruin and thus refers to the entire human science, which features an archaeological nature by dealing with fragments of memories, dreams and pieces of personal experience. This patchwork or bricolage of our culture patterns tell what my pictures are about. I compose from these fragments a new esthetical context, whereas the esthetical glance should not only be at the appearing signs and the theatrical scene. Art is a matter of social sense being included in an esthetic medium, which is not only a product of the lower sensual abilities. But rather next to them co-operate a culture of perception developed in the long-run, the knowledge of extra-esthetic conditions and the reflection, which is in terms of Kant recovering the specific in the universality, thus not decisive but reflected power of judgement. The permanent required view of the beholder on my pictures is ought to be focused on a level of reality which underlies the surface. Such as all is one in the universe and all is connected to all, thus the filmic sequences of my pictures constitute a whole, they correspond to each other and they form complex coherences in respect of content.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà|

| I am a painter printer and photographer.
At the moment I am undertaking photographic projects, I enjoy the challenge of photographing the unsusual and the abstract.
I work with digital imagery and am very interested in the old method of photography the pin hole camera.
I have become an avid collector of boxes all shapes and sizes.
I make cameras from simple domestic boxes such as shoe boxes gift boxes and cylindrical shaped boxes.
I have been exploring thee the effects of movement and lightand have had some very interesting results with the long exposure times possible with pin hole.
I am also trying to get some painting done I enjoy moving the paint around a canvas and exploring colour.
My latest project of work is expermenting with photoshop, using scanned objects and figurines creating backgrounds using various different media and using the applications in photoshop to create a finished image. My ideas for these images have been inspired from fairy tales, myths, legends and nursery ryhmes. |

| Born in Belgium, I learnt how to draw almost as soon as I could walk.
Talent that was given from my father (who has always drawn comic strips characters) and from my mother (who was devoted to a dress designer's career)
Since 7, painting and drawing have become my favourite passions.
Autodidact, I use the techniques of oil, watercolour, pastel, Indian ink, and crayon. I mix them to create new matter effects; a new style.
I add material as real sun, corrugated card-board and even dried and aromatic flowers.
I like nature and paying homage to her through my paintings like sunset landscapes, seascapes, animals and my olfactory watercolours.
I create and am inspired according to my emotions, my feelings of the moment, by my dreams while recreating an atmosphere, an imaginary world.
The message I could convey: painting is a very good therapy to run away from the humdrum routine of everyday life, to free one's emotions.

| I have a BFA and an MFA from the University of Illinois. My studio is in Chicago where I have exhibited for many years. I make paintings, watercolors, drawings, one of a kind artist's books, and any other object that I'll call my art. For most of my career I have been categorized as an abstract non-objective artist. However, for the last two years I have been drawing a series of flowers. Not exactly abstract, but they are composed pretty much as I had composed abstract work. They are small and easy to carry. For me, at this time, that is a good feature.
My paintings and prints are in collections throughout the United States. |
