| I treat to dive in the colors and states of the soul. I paint in order to be able to express my reality. My pictures are the reflection of which it happens to me or what I see around me. I am so connected with my inside and my feelings and as a catharsis I can overturn it in the pictures. Although the subjects are strong and very expressive, my painting is full of color. There are images that come to me at the top of my mind and that I try to treat them as a trustworthy thing to the mental representation of which it occurs to me. The important thing always is to find the form to express itself and to communicate with others, in this case through a canvas.
With a surreal and symbolic language , I investigate the complications of the feminine condition. I invite you to know me and to know us in my attempt to decode the collective unconscious.

| I painted in oils as a teenager until I married and became a mother. I am a mother of seven children and am a grandmother to eight. Raising my family was my priority until my youngest son was six and then I HAD to paint again. My family was still my priority but I made time to learn to use watercolors, taking lessons from Stan Miller and MariAnne Figgins. I started selling my work in 1989 to friends and acquaintances, and then began to show in galleries in 1993.
Painting brings peace to my soul. I love the flow of the paint beneath my brush and the joy of seeing the image emerge on the paper. My goal is to create something beautiful that others can enjoy. If my paintings bring happiness to others then I have accomplished my goal.
I have exhibited in galleries in Portland Oregon, Coeur d Alene Idaho and Spokane Washington. I have paintings in private collections throughout the U.S. and am a member of the Spokane Watercolor Society. |

| Joel Sager |
| myartspace id:JoelSager |
|
 |
| BIOGRAPHY: |
|
Joel Sager, a native Missourian, completed his degree in fine art at William Jewell College near Kansas City. While there, he was selected to receive the Harriman Fine Arts Scholarship and was a four year recipient of the Carpe Annum award, given to the most outstanding art major. During his senior year, the college administration purchased one of Sager̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s paintings to be exhibited at the Truman Foundation headquarters in Washington, D.C. After graduation, Sager was mentored by artist Mark English and received a full scholarship to the Illustration Academy at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Upon his return from studying at the Academy, Sager began working as an independent artist, gathering a body of work that has been described by critics as ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åmoody̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâàand ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åsmart.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃÂ
Fascinated by rural life and aspects therein, Sager presents (most often by means of landscapes, still-lifes, and portraiture) a dark perspective of such imagery, juxtaposing the seemingly mundane and lifeless with subtle allegory and vitality. Concurrent with the way some mid 20th century artists turned to basic subject matter after the war, Sager̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s work serves as a redemptive and simultaneously disquieting examination of the sometimes deep effectiveness and other times absurdity of being. Aesthetically, the work itself reflects the modest aspects of Sager̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s subject matter with its simplistic composition and almost primitive stylization of form. With the deconstructive paint process Sager employs, however, his work is metaphoric of the social and physical deterioration of the literal subject matter. This process involves an underpainting of naÃÆÃâÃâïve color and collage (wallpaper, construction paper, material, newspaper), a subsequent wash with roofing tar, and a scraping on and off of oil pigment with a palette knife. In essence, the artist is physically destroying his painting while metaphysically embroiled in the process of decay of the literal subject matter. The result is part realism and part primitivism: a visual struggle between idealism and pragmatism. Sager̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s paintings have had the honor of being shown nationally and internationally from Hollywood, California to Yokohama, Japan. Sager exhibited in the Missouri 50 for outstanding Missouri artists and was currently featured on NPR's broadcast of Michael Feldman's What Do You Know?. His paintings have been seen in print at the 2006 and 2007 True/ False Film Festival, the 2004 Columbia Festival of the Arts poster, and the seasonal 2005 Les Bourgeois Syrah label. At 26 years of age, Sager is permanently represented, showing new bodies of work seasonally at Perlow-Stevens Gallery in Columbia, Missouri, U.S. He currently is preparing for a two-person exhibit August 2007 at Satsuma Gallery in Hollywood, California. Joel Sager currently resides in Columbia, Missouri, U.S. with his wife Jennifer and son Oliver.

| Now if you like my art, you will want to know a bit about the artist because you cannot separate the art from the artist. Haha....so here goes...I am retired and live with my wife, Suzy in a nice white colonial house in Oconto, Wisconsin (with 2 naughty) cats. I do all types of paintings....sports portraits, flowers, animals, scenery, cityscapes, lighthouses, ghosts, americana. I use my imagination but also try to paint photorealistically. Every painting I do has a story behind it. A while back I was into painting lighthouses with ghosts. I was into nostalgia...when I visited a lighthouse, I imaginged who lived there many years ago. Right now I am really into sports portraits. Most of the time I think of a sports icon and then dream up a painting concept about the icon. Right now the guy that everyone is thinking about is Brett Favre. It is probably his last year. Also painting the human face is very very challenging. So right now it is Brett...but next it might be Elvis, or a politian (well, maybe not) or maybe Ill paint a farm scene. The options are endless. You can visit my studio and gallery at my home here in Oconto. I have a gallery that contains my paintings. It is all lit up with track lighting and is very impressive. I can show you my latest creation and discuss the ideas behind it, and demonstrate painting technique, etc. Or I can just show you the pretty paintings. Directions to my gallery: Oconto, Wisconsin is located 30 miles north of Green Bay Wisconsin. Take highway 41 north out of Green Bay, turn right onto Main Street in Oconto (at the McDonald's restaurant, drive thru Downtown Oconto and turn left onto Park Avenue, drive about 6 blocks to my gallery, a big white colonial house, 808 Park Avenue, located on the right side of Park Avenue. Ring my bell and come on in. My phone number is 920 834 6341. Email is yevad98@yahoo.com and I check it every day. During the second weekend of June, we have Copperfest here in Oconto. Copperfest is a community festival with events for kids and adults. On the Saturday of Copperfest, I will have paintings on display outside in my yard. This very nice venue for a family visit to my home. My yard is huge and had beautiful flowers. It has Suzy's Garden, planted and maintained my my wife, Suzy. |

 |
| BIOGRAPHY: |
| Though artist Michael Sprouse has been a professional artist for over 20 years, he began his foray onto the national art scene after becoming co-owner and curator of the acclaimed eklektikos gallery of art in Washington, DC in 1993. Over the next 10 years as curator of eklektikos gallery, he organized hundreds of exhibits incorporating thousands of artworks from countless artists from across the nation and the globe. He also served as curator for off-site exhibitions for several embassies and various art organizations in the DC Metro area.
In 1999, Sprouse turned away from the abstracted style of work that he had been known for locally and produced an entirely new body of work consisting of haunting and touching contemporary narrative portraits which he modeled after the empyrean facial expressions found in the subjects of vintage portrait photography. This new work took the DC art scene by storm and lead to a full page glowing review in the Washington Post Arts section.
Since closing eklektikos gallery in 2002, Sprouse has worked full-time creating his specialized work which can now be found in private and public collections across the United States, Europe, Canada, and South America. These neo-romantacisim examples of some of Sprouse's work have been called "evocatively beautiful" and "mesmerizing" by art critics and collectors alike in such publications as The Washington Post, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Baltimore Sun, Art and Antiques, and more.
Some collector̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s of Sprouse̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s work include Best Selling author David Lozelle Martin, Progressive Talk Radio personality Randi Rhodes, Daniel H. Schulman - President of Priceline.com, Academy Award winning director Quentin Tarrantino, and CÃÆÃâÃâésar Gaviria Trujillo - former President of Colombia and Secretary General of the Organization of American Sates.
Original works by artist Michael Sprouse can be found in private and corporate art collections across the United States, Europe, Canada and South America.
Besides being represented by fine art galleries in Washington DC, Baltimore, Richmond, Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville and more, large scale high quality archival giclee prints on canvas of Sprouse's work can now also be located in galleries and high-end designer showrooms across the country. |
