in a world of nameless faces,
and a path that seems to be leading the planet
towards a not so beautiful feature,
I have descided to bring works of art the heal.
Works of art that will distribute Light back to the
planet...one soul at a time.
These paintings are infused with ancient energy sequences
that have been hidden for thousands of years.
There original intention was to put the power of creation into the hands of each man, woman and child on the planet.

 |
| BIOGRAPHY: |
| "My paintings are surreal portraits that explore identity and the darker side of the human condition." - Carrie Ann Baade
The edgy and intellectual paintings of Carrie Ann Baade are quickly gaining recognition across the United States and abroad. Dubbed ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅImaginative Realism,̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâàthese paintings are cut from the pages of art history and layered into a trompe l'oeil surrealism. Often traveling around the globe in search of forgotten paintings to quote and interpret, her works manifest into an entirely original vision rich with humor.
Born in a steamboat that was pulled ashore and converted into a house, Carrie first became conscious in New Orleans and fell in love with the richness and magic created by the confluence of cultures. Too soon her family moved to Colorado, where the vastness of a rural upbringing made bones, sticks, and rocks her playmates; thus requiring the development of a fecund imagination.
After a very long time interviewing, Carrie is a real PROFESSOR of painting and drawing at FSU in Tallahassee. Once an aspiring professor, she has held adjunct teaching positions at Washington College, the University of Delaware, Cecil County Community College, and Delaware College of Art and Design. She received her B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1997 and a Masters in Painting from the University of Delaware in 2003. Currently, Carrie is a full time painter in Philadelphia accompanied by her singing, polydactyl cat.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
My imaginative, realist paintings are newly spun meta-narratives informed by religion and mythology. Gods, rulers, and demons are metaphors for the complexity of the human condition. These are allegorical cautionary tales of love and power, and corrupted icons for modern society. My ideas start with the fanciful and idealized world of the mind yet, to begin, I start with something is held in hand. A collage is created from cut up photographs and pictures including historical paintings. Looking at this collage, I paint in a trompe l̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢oeil manner showing the multiple layers with cut edges which suggest the complexity of individual̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s psychologies ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã
â their masks and their hidden secrets. In mismatched layering of eyes, influenced by Picasso̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s cubism, or the citation use of eyes from Our Lady of Sorrow; my interest in reviving history painting is in the subject but also in the making. Methods informed by studying with art conservators and looking at the old masters inform my work. The materials and techniques used revitalize the archaic traditions of both painting oil on copper, and egg tempera panel painting with gold leaf. As a contemporary artist, I am passionate about the preservation and continued use of art̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s past.

| BIOGRAPHY: |
| I've been working on The Ocean Series for 30 years. I guess you could say that this conflation of a traditional marine sunset with a color-field painting, something that originally crossed my mind sometime back in 1978, has turned out to be a fairly fertile idea for me. Call it a Remodernist approach to the color-field tradition if you like, but I'm not trying to deconstruct anything, fit into any category, or prove any theories.
The central theme in my painting is the search for stillness, the sort of profound and lucid calm that is the result of meditation or contemplation; another main theme is the relationship between humans, the ocean, and the atmosphere. The intent of my work is to create an ambiance where the spiritual dimension of this relationship can be experienced.
Once in a while a commercial gallery will invite me to do an exhibition.
Solos include: Sarah Rentschler Gallery, NYC, NY, USA, 1980
Samadhi Gallery, San Francisco, CA, USA 1982
Galleria Expressiva, San Jose, COSTA RICA, 1987
Norro Gruppen Konstgallerie, Stockholm, SWEDEN, 1991
Hodgell Gallery, Sarasota, FL, USA, 1994
Sekanina Contemporary Arts, Ferrara, ITALY, 2003
Elevator Gallery, Venice Beach (LA) California, USA, 2005.
I'm nomadic, never stay in one place for more than a year or two; don't have any possessions except for what I can carry on the iron birds. So far I've lived in 7 of the USA States and 6 other countries. I prefer warm places, but anywhere with a left coast will do - for a while.
When I'm not painting I mostly spend the time walking or sitting on the beach, staring at the ocean. I meditate. I surf when I can. I take part-time work when its available; have had quite a variety of dead-end, no-brainer jobs, some of which I liked. I've got an MD degree from the University of Texas that I've chosen to ignore. You might also say that I have the equivalent of a PhD in "coping". |

| Steve A Roberts is A talented artist of vision and technique, Steve is entirely self-taught in his skills. This he did by studying the works of his childhood heroes - legendary fantasy artists, from Frank Frazetta, to The Brothers Hildebrandt. Steve received his only formal training, when he sat in on classes at the Ringling School Of Art. He was born in central Florida, in a little town called Palmetto, a stones throw from the Gulf of Mexico. Steve new as a child there was something very wonderful about creating images on paper, or what ever he could draw on, this led him to painting, and a life as an artist. Later he moved to Alaska, a place that had all ways stirred in his imagination. In that time Steve studied Gods handy work in this fantasticly beautiful place. He searched within his soul, and started to paint the wonders of this Fairytale land. As time pasted, so did Steve's artwork, drawn between painting nature in it's purest form, and painting the fantasy he loved. His artwork slowly started to evolve into what we see today, a stunningly beautiful canvas of color, and at the same time intelligent, with characters, and atmosphere, so real, you seem to be able to walk into the canvas, and loose yourself in it, for just a little while. Steve's work was starting to receive more and more attention. Returning to Florida Steve started his company "Fantasy Graphics". Steve is now being recognized as one of the most talented new artist in the field of fantasy illustration.. |

| I was born in Iran in 1977, during a time of drastic political/religious and social upheaval in my country. My family fled to France and Canada and returned back to Iran when I was 17.
While living in Paris as a teenager, I studied art and experimented with various mediums and subject matters.
Painting people and using oil paints fascinated me most.
Shortly after returning to Iran, I began studying under surrealist master Taha Behbahani.
My education with him lasted four years. Taha shared with me the gift of communicating spirituality and vision through art.
The Feminine Essence became the source of my artistic inspiration and expression. Today my work still aims to capture the various aspects of my own femininity.
I have been living in San Francisco and working there as a artist since 2003.

I would say that my work could border from light surrealism to diffused adjusted abstract. and that my style of work would have to be abstract in the form of adjusted diffusion, color fusion and tonal balance, connected by line and color reflection balance. This is why I use the colors that I use and the mixing techniques as well. My form has come up from all the years of mixed learning methods and ideas. Which has been a culmination of different ideas and theories all combined into one or two different concepts, which I have eventually put into my own transformation of idealistic views, ways and concepts. So as you can understand now I have pretty much made up my type of theoretical method of painting and technique.

| BIOGRAPHY: |
| I was born in Australia and given the name of a Buddhist monk. My parents raised me on a hippie commune in Santa Barbara, where I ran around barefoot and carefree for most of my childhood. Thirty years later, my camera and I made our way to New York City, the canvas of my dreams. Multiple images have layered their way into my photos. Hands clasped, bright red nail polish glowing like a beacon under an unrelenting August sun, pray to be heard. Down the block and a lifetime away, disappointment and blind optimism of Off Track Betting stains the faces of the lonely souls within. Later in time, two planes cross the sky, destinations unknown, while down below ravenous black birds circle above, feeding on the mayhem of another New York day. As I witness this anonymous, invisible force connecting humanity, I want you to see it too. The sensation of living. 2007 was a year of change and development. I stepped away from the digital format and returned to the tangibility of film. Employment at the Jen Bekman Gallery enabled me to surround myself with photographs from creation to exhibition. Opportunities arose for me to be recognized as an emerging photographer, my work displayed publically. I took plenty of knocks and ate some free cake. My most recent photos experiment with multiple exposures within the angled confines of our dear city and will be on exhibited in March. |
