After an MA in German language and civilization at Sorbonne Paris III, she wanted to enrich
her personal experience through a commercial training course at the Chamber of Commerce
and Industry of Paris, followed by a third cycle of commercial specialization at the Business
Management Institute of Paris Sorbonne I. in order to build an invisible bridge between the
world of letters, art and business.
She has been painting since she was a child. At the age of seven, she designed the drawings of
an animated cartoon titled KALEIDOSCOPE which was presented on the big screens of
cinema halls in Bucharest. For her drawings, Il̮̩̉̉na Lescaut received the Jury's special prize.
As a teenager, she took drawing classes with a professional of the Beaux Arts Institute in Bucharest.
She took classes of Art-history in Paris and actually she prepares a Diploma in order to work also as an Art-tḫ̩̉̉rapiste.
In her paintings, she loves to play with colors, shadows and light, geometrical lines and symbols, letting her imagination project the everyday details, objects or places surrounding
us. She blends various techniques and often uses miscellaneous materials. Her work is at the
borders of figurative and abstract art, thus her painting can be called ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâë abstract figurative ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâû.

| BIOGRAPHY: |
| BIOGRAPHY
The Dutch painter Wim heldens was born in 1954 in Sittard, in the south of the Netherlands.
He showed an obsessive fascination with drawing from an early age and when he applied to various academies, he already had an impressive body of work. Nevertheless, his unusual talent was not recognized and he was not admitted. Disappointed, but still determined, he applied to the Kunstacademie in Frankfurt Germany in 1974 and was immediately accepted.
But when the good news came, he had just moved to Amsterdam and decided that, he had proven his worth, he preferred to go his own way.
Making a living from portrait commissions, Heldens developed this genre as a means to explore the human condition. While around him the modernist revolution was gradually being accepted as a general norm, Heldens explored renaissance techniques and three- and two-dimensional form, including abstract structural patterns (the influence of abstract notions of form is always very close under the surface). Also, the treatment of light by masters of Dutch 17c painting like Vermeer, Terborch and Nicolaes Maes held his fascination. He began to be asked regularly for exhibitions in galleries in the Netherlands. Various trips to Italy in the seventies were a great stimulation; the greatest impression from these years was the psychologically dramatic work of Carravagio.
The discovery of the art world in New York opened a new field of stimulation and experience. In the period 1990 – 95 Heldens divided his time between New York and Amsterdam, easily mixing in the exciting American artistic community where he, within a couple of months, saw his work on show at the Henoch gallery in SoHo, later to be followed with exposure at the Ganymede Gallery and the Open Studio PS122, both in NY City. The wide variety of different trends – from abstract via pop art to photo realism – which he saw in the East Village, where he had a studio, gave him the inner freedom and confidence to pursue and further develop his psychological realism. He viewed his personal style as a possible way forward after modernism had lost most of its credibility. He painted various portraits in commission, among others for the collector Raymond Saroff, who possesses an impressive collection of American native art. In 1995 Heldens participated in the exhibition ‘Representation represented’ in the Arnot Museum in Elmira (NY) together with Janet Fish, Gregory Gillespie, Paul Cadmus, Claudio Bravo and Michael Leonard, where Heldens’ contribution drew much attention.
From 1995 onwards, Heldens increasingly focuses on Amsterdam where he found his canvasses more and more in demand. In 1998 he decided to move away from portrait commissions to be able to concentrate upon a more versatile expression of human drama in contemporary life. Over the years, the psychology behind his work gradually became more complex and ambiguous, Claire-obscure more striking, contrasts sharper – all along with a continuously developing technique. His paintings found their way into private collections in the Netherlands, England, Germany and the USA, and into collections of the Academic Hospital and the ING Bank in Amsterdam, the Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten , the City Council in Sittard and The Arnot Art museum, Elmira New York.
Heldens is one of those artists who know from the beginning what they want to do. For him, painting is a psychological analysis, a narrative of inner life and experience. His realism, which is rooted in renaissance painting but never a stylistic pastiche, gives form to the human condition in modern life.

| Stefano Fanara born in Favara (AG), Italy 11-02-1963.
I was drawn to art as a child.
Began with painting, first with tempera, then acrylics, china, oils, and water base paintÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæThe techniques used were diverse as were the numerous mentors who imparted the most varied artistic and cultural experiences.
At the same time, there were many acquaintances with personalities in the field of art within the region of Sicily, of which several have become close friends.
In 1989, I transferred to Modena where I began my career as an elementary school teacher. Gifted at experimentation and applying new techniques in the fields of painting and photography, I also became interested in dance, meditation, and theatre.
In the past few years, this search for other means of expression has allowed me to work with noted personalities in the field of theatre and painting.

In April of 1999, I collaborated with Columbian director Enrique Vargas on a research project called ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅMemoria Del Vino O I Giochi di DionisoÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâàproduced by Emilia Romagna Teatro. The process of the research has brought into realization of a new show that debuted in Bologna and global preview in June of 2000. The collaboration had facilitated the collaboration of the creation of the stage design.
In 1998, I collaborated with a group of colleagues in an experimental work based
On several meditative techniques that were transposed into the artistic field. The finalization of the work at the end of the year 2000 had inspired a book edited by the publishing house ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅUrraÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâàand is titled ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅMeditazione e ArteÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà(Meditation and Art).
The project was initiated by an encounter with the American writers Wadut and Waduda, authors of the book ÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅAlchemy and TransformationÃÆÃââââ¬Ã
¡ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâàalso edited by Urra.
During the project, the press relative to the subject, Flash Art Italia, and the Italian television network, RAI 2, became interested by writing articles, reviews and broadcasting of T.V. programs.
The work, which continued until 2001, became a means of introspection in which the experience of the truth within and the expression of its beauty flowed together becoming a pulsation, a yin and yang, two wings for flight.
The meditation experience in the past few years has brought me in contact with the various levels of my inner being, and painting has allowed me to express these sensations directly.
The paintings during the years 1998- 2001 were the fruit of self- experimentation, exploration, inner transformation, healing, and reorganization of the softer inner levels.
The work on meditation before and the paintings after had provided a form of analysis of my inner being, an inner travel based on energy. The creative act was inspired by spontaneity of lines and signs. Work was based on the emission of energy, energy that flowed into a single track where every sign is that what it is.
I never tried to connect the lines of energy and signs all together, never trying plan or construct an imagine; I left them to accumulate sign on sign, shade on shade.
Within this process, I still continue in that mode of not planning, not defining; the objective is that of creating a process of which the action is not toward a beautiful art work but to create a contact between the hand and the energy of the Cosmo.
Allowing the energy to move means allowing the hand to move without any mental control, seeking the state of being of an empty channel, entering into a state of all that which is unknown, and having faith of the unknown; this is a key point to my paintings, having faith that something will happen without knowing how and without controlling anything. All the signs I leave freely often end up organizing themselves by themselves by way of unpredictable patterns which are newer, more beautiful, more interesting, more mysterious, than those usually planned.
With meditation, my sense of space and time have changed. From the exterior aspect of my paintings, one can intuit the present compressed in space and time.
The techniques of meditation experimented have distracted my sense of self from all that I had learned to be important and indispensable for survival. This conviction is becoming more and more a part of me, almost as if it were a certainty to last forever as a part of my wardrobe.
Observing my works that have taken me toward this change, the fruit of analysis on deeper levels, I seem to intuit a sense of mystery as if my curiosity has increased towards the things occult- mystery, hidden or obscure feelings. This curiosity has almost helped to remind me of who I am. It has been a stimulus for growth and expansion and has allowed me to begin to remember what is my true nature.
With the meditation experience, my paintings have changed 360 degrees. The temporal projection has changed. I feel as if now, more than ever, I am being projected into the present. All of this has allowed me to project myself into the present future, to expand myself, and to have a sense of anticipation for certain events. It seems that my paintings now are projected in more directions.
In the past, they were unidirectional. I asked for a response, and I threw myself only in one direction. I was reluctant to try other possibilities for the sake of pictorial coherence. In reality, I had no idea of all that was at my disposal.
Meditation has brought me towards the present, towards awareness of not knowing what the next moment will bring, regardless of the accuracy with which one can plan a work of art.
From the years 2001 till 2003, emerged a desire to search for a synthesis between painting and language. A necessity has now grown within to saturate entire surfaces. A certain necessity has evolved to explore, almost like a surgeon, the fragments of life and transport them in a vast way throughout my life. I have felt the necessity to abandon myself towards the instincts of my origins, in search of antique stencils, and the possible equilibrium between nature and reason.

With a style that is a footprint of his pictures being graphic, moody with soft light and always with props matching a perfect food.
Jean is treating food more like a still life, an object. His love of food and travel did push him to play with that medium to any lenght. Jean is always on the look out for a new book project on various culinary themes. At the moment exploring urban landscsape with a painting like feel. Different from food but still a control graphic approach.
Previous to that he shot portraiture for 10 years of musicians, actors, media people architects etc... for the like of magazines and exibitions worldwide. His approach was very quirky, always putting people in the least possible situation.

| Art from glass
I have recently diversified to creating art glass, again undergoing a process of self learning to create truly unique pieces of art, which are functional in most cases if not beautifully decorative for your home.
John Matthews Glass, has created a series of plates, bowls, and a range of decorative table and hanging ware, all unique and handmade using the highest quality glass imported from America, or more simple items from recycled glass. Each glass piece possesses natural bubbles and flaws only created through the handmade process. Also each piece comes with the unique mark of a John Matthews product.
Creating glass art is a very long and slow process – each piece is derived from carefully cutting and placing shapes of glass, with a basis of two separate lengths of glass, which are fused together over a 24hr period. If tableware is being produced then the ‘fused’ piece is placed over a mould to ‘slump’ into a desired shape; a bowl, plate or candle stick holder etc. This ‘slumping’ process takes another 24hrs until the item can be washed and engraved for a more personalised touch.
The pictorial art work was inspired by beach-huts, sailing boats and Kandinsky, but my work continually develops and is inspired by what I see and what I can experiment with, a lot of the time I don’t have a fixed idea of what I will create, and of course each piece will behave differently in the kiln.
With a John Matthews Glass piece, you will truly have not only an original piece of art, but also a highly innovative one.

 |
| BIOGRAPHY: |
| Throughout his career Dion Salvador Lloyd has dealt with the immensely difficult task of rendering nature to canvas using oils. Lloyds early works grappled with the sky as the predominant subject, painted over and over again in search of the ultimate painting of clouds and sky. In his more recent contemporary works, the ultimate is still sought and reached for, Lloyd wants us to enter into the spaces he creates, to bring ourselves and our own imagination to define what is land, sea or sky.
Lloyds focus is on creating atmosphere, every mark made is deliberate, intentional and considered in the closest detail. There are no accidents here, if there are, Lloyd only leaves them if he feels they bring something new to the piece. He has an unending respect for the medium itself, squirting colours, making them move, willing them into life on the surface of the canvas, the colours working some days, stubbornly refusing to move the next.
Working in layers, building up the texture and depth, leaving certain parts visible, covering over others, building up the layers of paint and colour. Working the canvas for days if not weeks at a time, seeking to create an earthy weather-beaten feel, that refers us again to nature and the source of his inspiration.
Lloyd never tires of the task he has set himself, working consistently every day of the week, driven by the belief that the purpose of his life is to leave something behind, something that is good and beautiful. When you ask Lloyd what his intentions are with his work, he replies, I want to make work people can fall into. In both his contemporary and abstract works this desire is certainly fulfilled.
These large canvases hold the viewer, demanding attention, immediately our imagination is called upon, with no clear cut clouds or forms to ground us in the real, we do indeed fall into the piece, everything recognisable is removed, leaving only the colour, trace and mood of the landscape, our own perception the only guide with which to decide if we are looking at sky, land or sea. For one person this painting is a wave on a shore, for another salt-flats and distant mountains.
There are no right answers anymore, Lloyd is no longer seeking them, instead he reaches now for the gut-feeling in himself and in the viewer that occurs when we feel emotionally moved. There is a comfortable familiarity here, a sense of the known and at the same time the sublime and the unknown. We know we have not been here before. or have we?
Lloyds works are dreamscapes of the soul, his quest the same now as it was when he began, a constant search for the light and an ambition, often realised, to encompass the free and eternal expansiveness of nature and the human heart.

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅThe core of my work comes from freedom. I am inspired by the synergy of nature, the play of energies in the process of creation. I work from the heart wishing to achieve ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ã
âno mind̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢. I am passionate to create and often move around diverse materials, oils, ink, clay, stone therefore forming no patterns, no rules. I paint with my hands creating a closer relationship to the subject and medium allowing myself to flow with the experience of the process itself.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃÂ

 |
| BIOGRAPHY: |
| Boris Koodrin is a Bay Area artist who enjoys exploring the line that separates the ordinary from the extraordinary, and the world around him from the dream-like visions that live within him. His surreal paintings are an exploration of natural beauty, human consciousness, and the place where the two intersect.
****************************
A self-educated artist, screen printer, and sand carver, Boris began painting as a child under the instruction of his grandmother, who encouraged him to look closely at things. He was raised near San Francisco's storied Cliff House, the rows of mummies that stood guard above the aging Sutro Skating Rink, and The City's version of Coney Island, Playland at the Beach. Those surreal relics from the past left their mark on him by igniting a fascination with the human psyche.
The desire to get beyond the surface of things has led Boris through a number of disciplines -- from Eastern and Western mysticism to the skilled art of Apache tracking. He recently has served as director of the Vision Youthz non-profit program at San Francisco's Log Cabin Ranch where he helped design a program for male juvenile offenders that focuses on nature, self-awareness, and rites of passage.
Boris studied Advertising Art at City College of San Francisco. After graduating in 1970 he worked as a freelance political cartoonist for Zenger's at S.F. State, took on commissions as a portrait and landscape artist, and dabbled in set design.
In 1975 he co-founded a commercial t-shirt company and today he still owns and operates The Image Company in San Bruno, CA. Having worked as an artist and printer since 1970, he has developed many creative and technical skills -- from printing the multi-colored logo on the telephones used at the 1996 Democratic Convention, to a sand carved portrait of Joe Montana on one of his MVP awards. Boris has also worked with Eileen Borgeson of Medici Arts in the translation of the John Lennon, Maxfield Parrish, and Erte' collections to deep crystal carvings.
In 2005 he completed a historical 40-foot mural commemorating 150 years of Jesuit education at St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco. Today Boris Koodrin is exploring the art of interior doors and where they can take us (home.earthlink.net/~artika).

"How things get together"
Starting point concerning my work is the sensory perception. The daily astonishment, experiences in the direct surroundings inspire, even "force" me to report small and bigger occurrences. While I walk I observe, collect materials, objects and sounds, draw, translate and play with their meanings. The results are concrete or more associative images. Megen and the river Maas give me the first source of information. In my paintings I search for tranparation, light and space.

| BIOGRAPHY: |

Paulo Ferreira was born June 7th 1963 in the city if Fortaleza, state of CearÃÆÃâÃâ ââ¬â¢ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâá - one of the most beautiful coastlines of northeast Brasil.
Educated in a military environment from early age, he had the opportunity to travel throughout his home land.
Unconsciously he created a massive appetite for different habits, customs and cultures and as teenager he realised how privileged and grateful he was to be able to experience so much. From childhood to adult life he did the usual things: go to school; finish university - but doing so only to please his family.
When he was 23 he decided to make sense of his life and his place in the world. This would be the most difficult decision he would make in his life. Again all odds he started to travel all over South America, visiting Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay. Survival was a priority. To maintain himself on a daily basis he started to produce arts and crafts. And he started to paint. This is when the magic started. He saw how amazing mother nature is and how much she has to offer in terms of beauty, colour and texture. He felt he was on a mission, and he had to share his vision with everyone. He took a plane and flew to Europe; London.
He arrived in London without being able to speak English - a difficult but rewarding experience. For the first time in his life he felt disabled. He felt the necessity to communicate, but he wasn't able to. Again drawings and paintings became his means of communication and survival. He had the opportunity to meet the most amazing human being: his best friend ever: Janet. Again, his life took another magnificent turn.
Traveling around Europe, meeting people, absorbing beauty, colour, cultures, enhancing his appetite even more. After twelve years, living in London, almost by accident, he discovered The Netherlands . He decided, quite instantaneously, to move there. Place where he also met his partner for life.
I would like to say thanks to everyone which in one way or another helped me to be where I am today!!!"
Holland has been a great experience: Open to new ways of existing. A very special thanks to AnnaBert from Kunst and Kunst(Eindhoven) for open the very first door here in Holland a very special thank you!!, Peter from Galery Contempo (Eindhoven) for giving me the opportunity to develop my work.

Later, he will become a doctor and a musician, which will both nourish and contrast with his neosurrealism artistic universe. He starts exhibiting in the 1990s, collectively then personally |
