| GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATION |

must be a member of, and submit work through myartspace.com.

a maximum of 5 jpegs (no larger than 10 megabytes each) in a myartspace gallery format can be submitted.

each work must be titled, dated, and include dimensions.

a brief statement about each image is advisable.

all submissions are final and non-refundable.

all registration fees are non-refundable.

A non-refundable early submission fee of $25 USD for applications submitted on or before June 30th, 2007.

After this date the application fee is $50 USD.

After 30 June, coupons for a reduced application fee will be available in selected venues.

It is necessary to complete registration before submitting work to competition.

All payments must be in USD by Paypal or credit/debt card. Daily conversion rates apply to international transactions.

Juror names and biographies:
Jessica Morgan, Curator, Contemporary Art, The Tate Modern, London
Jessica Morgan is a curator and writer based in London where she is currently Curator, Contemporary Art, at Tate. She has organized group exhibitions such as Common Wealth (2003) and Time Zones (2004) at Tate Modern and the retrospective of the late-acclaimed German artist Martin Kippenberger (2006). Morgan curates Tate Modern’s Level 2 Gallery for which she has developed a series of solo exhibitions of international emerging artists including Meschac Gaba, Jan De Cock, Roman Ondàk, Catherine Sullivan, Simryn Gill, and Brian Jungen (2005/6). In addition, she is Curator for the next Unilever Turbine Hall commission, which was realised by Carsten Höller in October 2006, a group exhibition titled The World as Stage (2007), and the first UK retrospective of the work of John Baldessari (2009) all for Tate Modern. Morgan is chair of the Emerging Art Monitoring Group at Tate, for which she is responsible for proposing and acquiring international work from the last two decades for Tate’s Collection. She is also the Tate representative for the American Acquisition Committee, a group of US-based supporters who annually acquire work for the museum, and the Frieze Art Fund, a fund established by the London-based group Outset that acquires work for Tate at the Frieze Art Fair.

James Rondeau, Frances and Thomas Dittmer Curator of Contemporary Art, The Art Institute of Chicago
James Rondeau heads the Department of Contemporary Art at The Art Institute of Chicago. Since joining The Art Institute in 1998 he has organized solo exhibitions with Stan Douglas, Marlene Dumas, Olafur Eliasson, Thomas Hirschhorn, Mark Manders, and Shirin Neshat, among others. Previously Rondeau was a Curator at the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Connecticut, where he organized numerous exhibitions, including The LeWitt Collection, Byron Kim, and Pipilotti Rist. Rondeau was a commissioner and co-curator of Robert Gober’s presentation for the United States Pavilion of the 49th Venice Biennial, Italy in 2001, and has served as both a curator and panelist for Art Basel.

Steven Zevitas, Publisher and Editor of New American Paintings
Steven Zevitas is the owner of New American Paintings Publication and the Open Studios Press. Mr. Zevitas received a BA in Art History from Boston University in 1991 and an MBA from Boston University in 1999. Steven entered the art world as the director of a Boston-based alternative gallery space. In 1993, Zevitas became the founding editor and associate publisher of The Open Studios Press. Under his direction the critically acclaimed publication New American Paintings became the leading showcase for the work of emerging and mid-career painters from throughout the United States. In 1999, after completing his graduate degree, Zevitas purchased The Open Studios Press from its original owner. The company has since grown dramatically with the addition of several new projects all of which are aimed at helping to bring artists and art enthusiasts together. Among his new projects are osp catalogs, which provides high-end catalog design and production services to artists, museums and galleries, and Boston-based osp gallery. Zevitas is actively involved in the art world as a writer, designer and curator. |

1. myartspace reserves the right to use the images of all applicants for promotional purposes. CatMacArt and myartspace are not liable for breaches of copyright by the entrants.
2. Artists are responsible for coordination and payment of all shipping of art to and from the show location. Upon notification of winning artist will be asked to begin this process.
3. Works exhibited must be available for sale. Myartspace.com will assist in accurate pricing of your art. The financial relationship for art sales will be from the retail price for the art sales: 60% artist, 40% myartspace.com. Payment from sales will be issued within 3 weeks of sale.
4. Myartspace.com will unpack and repack work, although the utmost care will be taken during this time. Myartspace.com is not responsible for any damage to your portfolio. Artists are responsible for insuring their work through the duration of the shipping and exhibition period.
5.
Myartspace.com reserves the right to hang and display art at our own discretion.
6.
Winners will have up to 3 days to confirm their participation in the exhibition and 3 weeks to get their work to the exhibition location.
7.
International artists are responsible for all customs’ duties and customs’ fees regarding shipping and handling of your art work to and from the exhibition location.
