How much does it cost?
It costs nothing to join. The free (Basic) accounts on myartspace offer several capabilities that members can utilize in order to gain exposure on the net. Unlike most art sites, myartspace does not restrict the number of images that Basic members can upload. We firmly believe in having an open community that allows artists to display as many images as they want on the site. Begin uploading your work and creating portfolios and galleries quickly and easily. Add videos, music and audio narration to your galleries. As a Basic member you do have the option to purchase Premium service on myartspace. Premium service on myartspace offers more tools and capabilities than Basic accounts-- including, the ability to create a personalized URL, the ability to send out exhibit invites, and the ability to create the standard flash galleries as well as traditional html galleries. Premium members also have an advanced version of the traditional profile template as well as special placement in myartspace member searches. You can find out more about Premium service by visiting the following page www.myartspace.com/premium. Premium service is for artists who want an extra edge when using myartspace as the hub of their online promotional and exposure efforts. Remember that you can send a message to info@catmacart.com if you have questions.

What can you tell me about uploading images on myartspace?
You can practically upload an unlimited amount of images on myartspace. Artists who are new to the site will want to take advantage of the Gallery Wizard in order to create their first portfolio and gallery. The Gallery Wizard can be accessed from your account page and is a great way to learn how the site functions. Keep in mind that the Gallery Wizard only allows you to upload 20 images. After you have used the Gallery Wizard you can add more images manually. Experienced users may decide to upload work manually from the start.
At the bottom of most pages of the site you will find a category group titled Upload where you will see 'My Images', 'My Portfolios', and 'My Galleries'. From there you can click on those choices in order to modify(edit), upload, or delete your images, portfolios, or galleries depending on which you select and your desired outcome. In this scenario you would want to click on 'My Images'. Once 'My Images' is clicked you will be taken to your Image Library. You will see all of the images you have uploaded so far including the images uploaded by use of the Gallery Wizard if you have utilized it. In order to upload a new image simply click on 'Import' and you will be taken to a page where you can do so.
For example, if you want to modify an image click on 'my images'. From there you will be taken to your image library. Click on the specific image you want to modify so that it is highlighted. When you click on the image you will notice several options to choose from at the top, such as edit and delete. You can add music, audio narration and video to your gallery as well. |
What about the competitions on myartspace?
myartspace is a community. As part of being a community, it sponsors competitions for its members so that they can better their development as artists. Some of our competitions are free to enter while others involve an entry fee that is low considering the art competitions we have researched.
In 2006, myartspace ran the "South of France" competition which was a very big success. The "South of France" competition was followed by the "New York, New York 2007" which sent finalists to New York City's Chelsea art district for a group exhibit. We plan to send finalists of future competitions to England, China, and India. This brings new meaning to the idea of showing your art to the world!
All myartspace competitions involve jurors who are respected in the the art world. Past jury panels have included, Jessica Morgan, curator of contemporary art at the Tate Modern, James Rondeau, curator of contemporary art at the Art Institute of Chicago, Steven Zevitas, Publisher and Editor of New American Paintings, Dr. Juliet Hacking, Program Director of the MA program in Photography (contemporary and historical) at Sotheby's Institute of Art in London, and Clare Freestone, Assistant Curator of Photography at the National Portrait Gallery in London and Henry Horenstein, a renowned Professor of Photography at the Rhode Island School of Design. |
