I've been looking in my account, but I can't find a direct link that I could send to people (i.e. myartspace.com/katebueckert or something of the sort). Does this exist for those of us using the freebie sites? Or is it just for premium users? I've tried just typing in that url too, but it tells me it doesn't work.

It's such a silly question, and I'm sure the answer is staring me right in the face, but I can't find it. Sorry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I'd like to do is sell machine made prints at affordable prices while selling limited edition prints that are printed under my direction and signed by me, that are higher priced.

I imagine that this would be O.K. since I can buy a an poster of an Ansel Adams image at low cost yet I can also buy a limited edition print.

Painting Outdoors on a Full Pallet Field Day
by Margaret Stanton

An artist, inspired to paint the Gothic and Florentine architecture outdoors in Prague, must choose between an almost limitless range of subtle colors to use. In this medieval city there are cooler hued buildings of stone with grayed lavenders, greens and blue browns. There are also warmer toned surfaces with ochre, yellows and oranges. Add to this an eclectic, no-rules range of color on many of the building's newly renovated surfaces, and you have a genuine, full palate field day! An artist needs to decide how to achieve color harmony in the shapes and nuances depicting these historic treasures if their next best painting is going to be a success.

Rod Cameron reveals the secrets behind his choices of color in the painting titled, "St. Michelos Cathedral - Prague". Notice how he breaks down color into groups of "warm" and "cool".

He tells students, "I saw the two towers in the sun as "warmer" mixtures: the thinner, taller steeple a mixture of cerulean blue and burnt sienna with white, and the main domed building a mixture of yellow ochre and burnt sienna with white."

Using these warm hues as a reference point, Cameron uses a split complementary, which indicated blues, lavenders with touches of viridian green for the shadows and in the street buildings on either side. These cooler shadow colors frame the scene and provide exact compliments to the warm Hues of the Cathedral in the sunlight.

To further enhance the warm atmosphere in the sunny part of this painting, the artist mixed cerulean blue into the sky. Cerulean blue, being the "warmer blue", supported the warm, sunny part of the composition and harmonized with the cerulean mixtures in the architecture.

To see how easy it is to find and select complementary, split complementary and other color combinations, Rod Cameron suggests to artists to make or get a hold of a simple color wheel, found at any art supplier, and just dial up a color. In the case of Rod Cameron's painting of St. Michelos in Prague, he pointed to orange on the color wheel as his initial reference point, for the sunny surfaces of the Cathedral. The compliment of orange is ultramarine blue, but Cameron chooses the split complimentary; the colors that you find on either side of blue. The color wheel beautifully illustrates, lavenders on one side, and blues with a touch of viridian green on the other side; the split complimentary colors that Rod Cameron uses in the painting.

Touches of your warm mixtures in your cool colors, and visa versa, will slightly gray things down, and go further to create great color harmony in your painting. The use of split complementary colors adds a greater range of color and more variety in your painting without sacrificing harmony.

Color wheels are inexpensive and give the artist a better understanding of the color families and how they relate to each other. Even after you've memorized all the color combinations, it still fun to refer to now and then, plus, the wheel just looks cool hanging on the wall. Every studio should have one!

FIGMENT is a forum for the creation and display of participatory and interactive art by emerging artists across disciplines. FIGMENT began in July 2007 as a free, one-day participatory arts event on Governors Island in New York Harbor with over 2,600 participants. Since then, FIGMENT has grown significantly each year—in number of projects, duration, participants, volunteers, fundraising capability, exhibitions, locations, overall level of commitment and participation, and public support.

FIGMENT’s vision for art looks past the white-walled galleries and into the realm of participation. Art is not just something that you stand still and quietly look at – it is something you participate in. You touch it, smell it, climb it, write on it, talk to it, dance with it, play with it, learn from it… Interactive art creates a dynamic collaboration between the artist, the audience and their environment.

FIGMENT’s goal is to advance social and personal transformation through creativity, in the form of free participatory arts events and exhibitions. FIGMENT is uninterrupted by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising. Selling or advertising goods or services is not permitted. Neither our artists nor our planners and staff are paid – everything that you see at FIGMENT is born from a simple desire to share imagination with each other and the public.

In these challenging economic times, it is important that artists devise new ways to create, share, think, and dream about what is possible. FIGMENT is an alternative to many of the shortcomings of the commercial art world— exclusive, expensive, impersonal, untouchable and often simply boring.

Famous for his role in New York’s artistic heritage and the Pop Art movement, Andy Warhol believed that everyone had it in them to be a star for fifteen minutes. Through his own art, he defined his identity and shaped the world around him. He once commented that he’d like his tombstone to say only one word: “Figment.”

FIGMENT is a project of Action Arts League, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, and is created and produced by a coalition of volunteers. FIGMENT is made possible by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s SwingSpace program, which was created with lead support from the September 11th Fund. FIGMENT is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.

Hello. I am looking for advice about selling my digital poster art online. My art attempts to give expression to the Christian-Lutheran faith via liturgical and biblical images and words. I'm not certain how either to adequately describe my work or to whom I should market it. I have searched other sites for similar work to mine without success. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks.

Hi. Chuck Mountain here. Although I have never made a piece with musicians in it, I am considering a series of digital art pieces using musical orthography (notes, expression marks, and scores).
Would this be something you are interested in?

Hi,

I run a small English college magazine, and for the past few weeks we've been publishing painted covers, by various artists. Two examples are attached.

There are only two restrictions on these covers: firstly, the paintings must contain our school sign, and one green-tied student; secondly, the text "Chellaston School," must be visible.

In return, the artist gets a write-up in our magazine and, if possible, their work is auctioned for our college's charity, which builds orphanages in Uganda.

I'm opening the contest up to anyone for the next four or five issues, and will accept entries through email to: chellastonpaintings@googlemail.com.

All emails recieve a constructive reply, even if they're unsuccessful.

Hey guys! I need your help. One of my paintings has been chosen as a finalist to be on the cover of next month's KoreAm, a national Korean American cultural magazine. The guy that is my main competition has resorted to spamming craigslist (la, sf bay, and honolulu) to try and solicit votes, which has made it hard for me to keep up. So if you guys could spare a few seconds to vote and pass the info on, it would be greatly appreciated!

You can vote once every 24 hours per unique IP address until 11:59pm, Friday, Feb. 12th.

The little Community College that I used to attend delivers silty fresh water because the local well(-s) is/are bad. These "fresh water" dilevery systems also allow lead and arsynic at levels that are not allowed at Federal EPA levels. I've been kicked around and now kicked off the campus -- permenantly! It also didn't hurt that my Dad (God Bless'em) at 90 years old donated his old color photo copier to the art club, thansk Dad! and nobody has stolen it (or borrowed it without permission).
I've attempted to contact my Congressman Buck Henry (CA) with no response. The wheels of justice do turn slowly. .. . color me gone. . . J.

This is an early morning painting on the famous Charles Bridge in Prague, by Rod Cameron, and he offers this insight into the color temperature that he used.

"The magical light of Prague at this time had a cool predominate cast which brings the shadows to the warmer hues of the palate. Cool light equals warm shadows or warm light gives cool shadows is the general rule. The incredible buildings of the city create an interesting sky line across the horizon and I used the tall statue on the left which had a natural gaze into the scene and the focal points of the painting."

Experienced plein air painting artists in Hawaii plan to join Rod Cameron in Prague, this spring. You can be one of them!

These Big Island artists love painting, traveling and seeing great Art Masterpieces of all kinds, and they are willing to go halfway around the world, to the Center of Europe, and one of the most beautiful cities in the world to do it!! They are going to Europe to experience this artist's city, as artists.

With the goal of touring Prague and plein air painting in the best locations throughout the historical city, the perfect ingredients must combine to make this an artist's dream vacation of a lifetime. They are getting plenty of help from three people who have put it all together.

Artist Margaret Stanton and Jiri Balej make arrangements for the group, host daily walking tours, assist in painting sessions, talk about the historical figures and places, and provide travel and entertainment information at every stage of the journey. This couple who live part time in Prague and the other in Hawaii give the artists more than just the insider's scoop!

As every artist knows, a trip into a world class destination city is also about one's journey as an artist.

Master landscape artist and figure painter, Rod Cameron, returns to Prague to share in a first rate painting experience with 10 other artists all toll. In a city known for art, sculpture, music and literature, he leads the group and guides artists to create their own masterpieces. Rod works personally with each artist throughout the week and gives demonstrations as the group paints together in the streets where Mozart created his famous symphonies.

Rod Cameron brings so much depth to his art, that even the most experienced artists find inspiration and clues on how to bring their paintings to the next level. He is gracious and thoughtful while helping each artist to achieve great results in their art.

Those who know Rod Cameron and his art understand what a valuable, fun opportunity this is for any artist who is ready for an incredible experience in Europe.
