My portrayal of family life in its different aspects
Family Life is the most important element in our life and the good and bad sides need to be addressed and faced in order to find solutions. Artists can bring our lives to the forefront and I believe that it is our job to address all issues.

This painting represents family life, both the ups and downs and is representative of my own family?s lives. It interprets, love, the strength of family ties, the importance of the parental guidance, the lessons of sharing and caring, illness, near death and death.

This piece was done with nappies (diapers) and enamel paints. It portrays the parental authority and caring of the young toddler who is losing their nappy (diaper). It reminds us of responsibility, hygiene and the developing child.

The heart is a symbol of the fact that we are all one family, the family of human beings and are all equal and require the same amount of attention and care. It makes us aware of how we all fit into one unit and must find compatible solutions to life.

This collage addresses abortion, which is a very easy process in today?s world, it questions the necessity of a happy couple thinking about such a drastic action and reminds us of the life of a wonderful little person who we can bring up and educate to be an important part of our society. This is not addressed to those who have no food, have been raped or any other such violent and horrendous situations. The materials used in this piece are all involved in nurturing and keeping a child warm and safe.

This is another painting based upon my family it is done on a round piece of wood, representing the wheel of life. The colours on the outer edge of the wood represent the colours of the Brazilian flag, where all of my children were born. The lines going outward symbolize the spokes of the wheel. The red base represents security and love with each family member appearing on top of the base, making one realize that each member is individual.

This painting describes the horror of domestic violence; I have purposely made people out of proportion to give a more drastic effect. Both the children and the dog are frozen by what they see. This is an important subject which we have to face and find a solution to; the agony for all involved is too great to bear.
