My interpretation of Angelique Helriegel's poems.

Deatils of description :Angelique asked me to give a visual version of her poems. There are a collection of 8 poems the first four describe the dark side of life, the second four poems describe lighter and happier side of life. I painted each piece choosing the colors and symbols based on each poem and asked her to tell me if they interpreted her poems, she was happy with the results.

Shades of Gray

SHADES OF GRAY/ Shades of gray, you see and say,/ life is not black nor white./ Shades of gray center night and day,/ color-blind rainbows are in sight./ Shades of gray, piano-keys you can not play,/ indecisive musical mind is closed tight./ Shades of gray, a firm choice left at bay,/ gray clouds the darkness and the light.

Crack the Egg

CRACK THE EGG/ Crack the egg/ Delicate shell,/ Oozing/ Into the bowl./ Crack the egg/ No life cells,/ Who knows what it/ Would have become./ Crack the egg/ Stir in the salt,/ Whip the yoke into/ The white;/ Crack the egg/ Destroy the soul,/ That lives/ and lies within./ Crack the egg/ Cook to taste/ How horrible/ that would have been.

Addicts

ADDICT/ It suffocates your mind,/ body, and soul./ It breaks the hearts/ that surround you./ Look away, hide you;/ You love them for that./ Stop it, admit it;/ Those you hate./ It forbids you/ to face life fears./ It keeps you paralyzed/ in a disorganized place./ Beg little doggie,/ It taunts your soul./ That's how it survives;/ And you don't.

BROKEN/ I have a heart of broken dreams,/ Busted,/ Bent,/ Beyond repair it seems./ Now, not knowing what else to feel,/ Numb/ Nothing,/ Not just a Nick, but deep, a cold blade of steal./ Regretting the day we came to be,/ Mistake,/ Misled,/ Misused is how you treated me./ I learned not to trust another and see,/ Watch out/ Wary,/ Wicked he may be./ I am damaged goods, I am useless,/ Destroyed,/ Devastated,/ Deliberately doomed, you could care less./ I have a heart of broken dreams,/ Busted,/ Bent,/ Beyond repair it seems.

COLORS OF LIFE/ The colors of life can be dark or light;/ Pale shades that change into night,/ Or shades of day that are blindingly bright./ Hues of reds, greens, and blues;/ View the colors you choose,/ Shut your eyes and lose./ Painted rainbow tints that are slightly seen,/ And all the colors that fall in between./ A true balance of colors in your head, very keen./ Never let gray consume your sight,/ Repaint the foggy canvas, live to fight or flight./ Seek the colors that put your soul in a superior light./ Open your eyes to all shades life displays,/ Bad, sad, glad or in other ways./ Experience all the colors of life everyday!
