Using art to bring people's attention to how we need to work together to make a better world.
I believe that part of an artist?s job is to bring people?s attention to current situations which need to be confronted and resolved. Art describes our current day society and through art we create thoughts, ideas, debate, contemplation, discussion, speculation and criticism which hopefully provide some groundwork for change. The world is a much smaller place due to the ease of travel and telecommunications and therefore we must become more diverse, tolerant, caring, willing to work together to solve our world problems which are worse than ever in today?s world. Through cooperation we can and must make things better. I am using art as an expression of the world I see and try to bring people's attention to the many problems we face in the world today and how we can together the world over bring solutions through compassion, sharing, educating and collaborating.

Save the Family #20
This painting describes the horror of domestic violence; I have purposely made people out of proportion to give a more drastic effect. Both the children and the dog are frozen by what they see. This is an important subject which we have to face and find a solution to; the agony for all involved is too great to bear.
Dimensions:96" W x 36" H; Medium:Acrylics on 4 canvas panel.

Death in the Family
This painting is filled with sadness, love and pain. The message I want to give with this painting is the importance of being able to cry and grieve and share your feelings with your loved ones. Also that death is part of life and has to be accepted as such, those of us who stay behind have to continue to live our lives to the fullest. Grieving takes some time, but one must move on

Family Sometimes Means a Mother & her Children as Only Parent
I feel it is also very important to address the single parent, in this case it is a Mother, but it could equally as well be a Father. We need to give them the same support as we do couples; all children require the same amount of attention whether they have 2 parents or 1.
Dimensions:40" W x 32" H; Medium:Mixed media on paper.

Act Now to Stop Aids in Africa
This painting tries to portray the distress, pain, depression and complete feeling of giving up hope about those who have aids. They are our brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers and we need to assist them to a better life style. There are medications which can help them live a fairly normal life, and everyone deserve to have the ability to use these medications, all people deserve to live a quality life.

Stop the Violence & the Bloodshed
The purpose of this painting and poem is to implore us to find peaceful solutions without war and violence. It is possible to debate and find compatible solutions without war. Stop the Violence & the Bloodshed Spiraling out of control, the anger, the hate. When did we stop realizing that we are all brothers? That we are all one? Brother against brother we stand, fighting a war we don?t truly understand History does not have to repeat itself, the future is a blank slate. Erase the anger and the hate and paint instead a picture of love and compassion. Look at one another with the eyes of God. See what beauty is to be found in the human race. See how simple our differences are, and the complexity of the lines that make us one. Humanity is truly beautiful. By Karen Lewis
Dimensions:8 ft W x 37" H; Medium:Acrylics on loose canvas.

Promote Global Peace via the Internet
This painting tries to entice us to look for new methods for all countries to cooperate, with the many talented people in the world and the new telecommunications technology we can find new and peaceful solutions together. Shrinking World (written as a collaboration with painting ?Promote Global Peace?) Our world, so vast and so open. Continents separated by immeasurable amounts of water. Landscapes reaching beyond the eye?s capacity. Hundreds of languages, thousands of dialects. People a world apart, brought together through Technology. Days become hours, hours, seconds. The language barrier is broken. Our world slowly shrinks. Ideas exchanged, cultures fused, minds opened, stereotypes shattered. Beautiful Technology bringing us closer to people a world away. Working together we get the best of both worlds. The best of ALL worlds. Technology? why not use it to bring peace to this shrinking world? By: Karen Lewis

Diversity
This is a painting done in collaboration with Angelique Hellriegel, we both believe that it is very important to have a diverse society and that we should encourage governments, people and children of all nations to join together in different activities. Below Please read Angelique's poem: Diversity The destiny of diversity, is all up to you. Accepting them not rejecting them, is something you need to do. Diversity?s destiny, determined by me and you. Discriminating and hating, Stop! Before they do it to you too. -Angelique Hellriegel
