Introducing Pele to Zico
Introducing Pele to Zico
Zico is adopted from the Humane Society and settles in his new home happily and quickly is introduced to extended family to which he bonds well.
The reason for this gallery is to bring to everyone's attention our poor pets. Remember that pets are completely helpless to do anything about their lives without us unlike us humans who can work to improve our lives. I understand that many people are going through economic hell and therefore have to give up their pets and I would beg of those interested in acquiring a pet to consider going to the Humane Society where they are overloaded with animals. Obviously the Humane Society don't have sufficient funds to feed the animals their normal quantities but keep those alive that they can, and remember many of those not adopted but perfectly loving and healthy pets have to be put down because there is not enough space or funds to keep them alive. Please remember that pets are not furniture to just give away for no reason, they require love, attention, training and nutrition, and they require a great deal of work and give so much in return. My daughter, Kristina and her husband, Reggie adopted Zico who was only being fed 2 cups a day, obviously because the Humane Society did not have sufficient funds to give him the 4 cups required a day. He was lucky he was only in the Humane Society for about 3 weeks. It is a very stressful time for a pet, they have no idea where their family is, why they are in this strange place locked up with people coming to stare at them constantly. These pets desperately need homes, the Humane Society does the best it can, but it can never compare to a loving family home. Zico is evidently grateful for his adoption and has bonded easily and as you will see through my photos has adopted his extended family with my husband and our dog, our other children and their other halves. Kristina and Reggie had 2 cats and a hamster before Zico and he fitted in happily with them as well. If you are able to please help these animals in any way you can, the abandoned pets are in this situation through no fault of their own.
Introducing Pele to Zico
Consider adopting a pet from the Humane Society, Zico is one of the lucky animals.
Deatils of description :With the dire state of today?s economy the Humane Society is receiving more pets than it ever has with fewer funds than it ever has had. Please be aware that pets are a part of the family, they have feelings and need to be looked after, and they are not a piece of furniture to be thrown out or given away at whim. I realize how hard it is for many people who have lost their homes, jobs, and are trying to feed, clothe, and take care of themselves and their children, in which case they have to find a home for their pets and this is stressful for both the owners and the pets. So for those considering acquiring a pet please consider adopting a needy animal who is under great stress, not understanding where they are or why they are there and yearning for their family. Through lack of funds the Humane Society tries to keep and maintain as many of the animals as they can, therefore feeding them a little less than required, but at least keeping them healthy and alive. Also please be aware that many animals have to be euthanized because of lack of space, food, medication and the required necessities to keep the animals alive. It is a hard thing for those people who have to make the choice of which animal has to go and there are surely people who can alleviate this problem somewhat, please consider what you can do to help.
Zico's New Life
Zico is this incredibly loving dog who Kristina and Reggie saved from the Humane Society. He is a cross between a Labrador and a German Sheppard; he is very food oriented and intelligent and is doing well with his training. Kristina and Reggie got him a little over 2 weeks ago and he came to visit last weekend and again this weekend. This weekend I have been able to take some shots.

Zico and Pele making friends
What a joy to see the young and old enjoy themselves. I was not sure how Pele would react but he seems to know who the family is because he will chase cats, but not Kristina and Reggie's when he stayed with them before Zico came. He did not know anything about babies until the grandchildren came and then he wanted to be with them every second and guard them. Despite the fact that Pele is old now and not as agile he and Zico have a grand old time!

Zico Learning to Play Frisbee
Poor Pele is too old and arthritic and had to have a toe amputated because of cancer meaning he can no longer play his favorite game of Frisbee. However, young Mister Zico has discovered the tremendous fun to be had by a game of Frisbee and is in the learning process of bringing back the Frisbee and putting it at our feet, he is doing well learning and loving the whole procedure.

New Family Members
Kristina and Zico part of a family. The whole purpose of this series is to remind everyone that dogs need a loving home; they are not furniture and should not be easily disposable. If you are looking for a dog remembers the Humane Society, they have little money and more dogs than ever with the economical situation. All dogs deserve a loving family and security, I know and understand the dire situation people are in, but those who are looking and are able to afford a dog please consider adopting from the Humane Society. Zico now has a happy family home, he knows that he is loved and has bonded quickly.
