Miya Ando Stanoff

Miya Ando Stanoff received her BS from the University of California/Berkeley in  East Asian Studies 1996 and her masters from Yale University in New Haven, CT in 1998.  Born in Los Angeles, California, Miya has had solo exchibits at the Galerie Sho, Tokyo, Japan in 2006, the Edith Caldwell Gallery in Sausalito, CA in 2006 and Art Gotham in New York City in 2006.  She has been featured in an extensive number of publications and her art is collected globally by individuals and institutions. 

Gabriel & Gilberto Colaco

Gabriel and Gilberto Colaço

Gabriel and Gilberto Colaço are twins, born in 1975 in Nazare, Portugal. They have developed their work together. In 1994 they joined the Painting course of Fine Arts at the Oporto University College of Fine Arts int Portugal. In 2000 they graduated in Painting at FBAUP, Oporto University College of Fine Arts Portugal. They finished their course of Fine Artes Sculpture in Caldas da Rainha Art Center, Portugal in 2002 and subsequently their Postgraduation on Drawing at Lisbon University College of Fine Arts, Portugal.


Sabrina Small

Sabrina Small
Before moving to Berlin, Germany in September of 2002, Small made her home in Sarasota, Florida. She has exhibited extensively throughout the state of Florida, as well as in San Francisco, New York, London, Budapest and Berlin. Small's most recent works are hand-stitched drawings inspired by the "Black Block", a direct action group that is part of the social movement in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg, where she is presently living.  If you would like to read a myartspace interview with Small, click here

Marina Kassianidou

Marina Kassianidou is an artist and writer based in Limassol (Cyprus) and London. She was born in Limassol in 1979. She lived and studied in California, from 1998 to 2004 where she graduated from Stanford University in 2002 with a BA in Studio Art (with Distinction) and a BS in Computer Science (with Distinction). Upon graduation, she was awarded the Arthur Giese Memorial Award for Excellence in Painting by the Stanford Department of Art and Art History. In 2004, she obtained an MS in Computer Science at Stanford University. In 2005, she obtained a Master in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. She is currently working on an MPhil/PhD degree in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. She has participated in exhibitions in the UK, USA and Cyprus.

Vanessa Ruiz

Vanessa was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She holds a BFA in Photography from RISD, the Rhode Island School of Design and is currently working on her Masters in Fine Art at the University of Chicago. She has photographed in over 11 different countries around the globes, often concentrating on children's issues. You can see more of her work on her personal website as well: www.vanessaruiz.com.

Monica Rezman

Is Today Tomorrow
Rezman currently splits her time between Chicago and India. She studied fine art and textile design at the School of the Art Instiute of Chicago and the Insstituto Allende in Mexico. She has also studied at the School of Representational Art in Chicago. In addition to recently being featured in New American Paintings, Rezman has shown at galleries such as Gescheidle(Chicago), LyonsWier Packer Gallery (Chicago), The South Bend Regiional Museum of Art (South Bend, Indiana) , and the Comtemporary Art Gallery in Ahmedabad, India. She has also been named artist in residence twice at the Kanoria Center For Arts(Ahmedabad, India)

National Portrait Gallery Plans Pop-Art Show: "The National Portrait Gallery in London is planning to stage its first exhibition devoted entirely to pop art. The display will feature works by Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Ray Johnson, Sir Peter Blake and David Hockney." Portraits of Marilyn Monroe will get their own room. Yes, really. Invasion Of The Art Consultants: Scary Or Not? "While there are some major European exceptions ... (art) consulting and advising remains a ­distinctly American phenomenon. 'Americans take great pride in seeing psychoanalysts, and they likewise have no problem having someone else find their art for them,' explains Manhattan ­gallerist Sean Kelly, an Englishman based in New York." But are art consultants necessarily a bad thing? The Art Newspaper 05/22/07.

Where Have TV Viewers Gone? Viewers are fleeing their TV sets. "The steepest decline was in live viewership, which fell 10% year-over-year among the four major broadcast networks. Adding in DVR viewership, which can boost shows' ratings by as much as 25% or more, the Big Four were still down 5%." Backstage 05/25/07.

- The first deadline for early registration for the New York, New York Competition 2007 is June 30th. Submission fees go up after that. Save money by registering early. For more details, click here. Several hundred artists from all over the work have signed up and the breadth and depth of work is impressive
- Our programming development staff have been burning the midnight oil these past few months. There is very little relief in site. We have some insights into new things upcoming this summer and fall from myartspace. Click here to take a peek.
- Brian Sherwin has been busy again this week with the birth of his first child, Elle Rosa.  But he manages at keeping up with the management of the myartspace blog. He's got a number of new interesting interviews including Tanya Gramatikova (interview, profile page), Ted Stanuga (interview), Sabrina Small (interview, profile page), and Michelle Forsyth (interview). He's also interviewed the Sara Nightengale Gallery in New York (interview), a gallery with a partcular emphasis on emerging artists.
- A tour of myartspace has been added. Click here to see the tour.
- We improved the tutorial page substantially. Click here to see view the tutorials.
- The thumbnail issue for portfolios and galleries is resolved. You are free to choose a thumbnail contained inside a portfolio or gallery as a representation of the work.
- Our programmers are fixing some problems we've identified on the site.  They should be rolled into the site on Tuesday. Please feel free to report problems to us.
