Chad Fay

Illusions

Matthew Lively

John Vincent

PAINTINGS
John holds a BFA and MFA in Fine Art. In his own words "In my work I attempt to generate an atmosphere through scene setting. Part of this often involves the concealment of identities as the faces are rarely revealed but is also achieved by the interaction of figures with inanimate objects within the frame. The paintings allude to events beyond the canvas, creating a depth and intensifying the atmosphere generated by what is seen and what is not - a contribution to the work from the viewers own imagination.".

Aron Meynell

Work
In Aron's own words "The joy of exploration, and the beautiful places and things that exist only because no one cares enough to get rid of them drive my work. As a boy, I was in love with the debris in the woods and unattended construction sites. Finding abandoned cars was like finding a relic – a relic that had been left for future demolition, like a gift or sacrifice to all who pass. The purpose of my work is to depict characters unconcerned with the barrenness that wreckage and isolation can embody. These are interactions fueled by the freedom of being alone and the seductive aura that resonates from the dirty".

Donald Macdonald

Donald Macdonald
In Donald's words "My work is about the study of the human figure, its ergonomics, physical limits and its construction. I am fascinated by the transparency of skin and trying to capture the network of tones which flow beneath it.I find it more important for the painting to look "alive" than "real" in the photographic sense of the word. I try to capture the esscence of life or the soul of the figure,i try to create a tension between the expressive side of my work with the photo realism side, bringing both together to create a whole,a person in the spiritual and physical sence."

Art News by Art News Journal

Picasso in the desert.-- "Clearly, there are still a few wrinkles to be ironed out of the system before Abu Dhabi secures a permanent spot in the pantheon of world art cities." The National (Abu Dhabi) 07/30/08

Got That High End Art? Now How About Some Furniture? -- "The huge spending power of buyers such as the Russian oligarch and Chelsea football club owner Roman Abramovich, who think nothing of spending tens of millions on a Freud or a Bacon, has driven the rise of a new art discipline. Furniture is too mundane a description for its devotees, who have coined the term 'functional sculpture'." The Independent (UK) 07/27/08

China Takes On The Art World -- "Internationally it is reckoned that China has overtaken France as the world's third largest art market after the US and Britain. ArtPrice's list of 100 living artists whose works sell for more than $1million includes 35 Chinese. Five years ago, only one made the list. But inside China it's a different matter." The Australian 07/28/08
